Yesterday at work, a woman came in with her 13 months old baby for treatments.
This baby had a temperature of 38.5°c, was weak, restless and irritable.
The doctor has prescribed some lab. tests and medications including tablets she was to buy later and some antipyretics (injections) which were to be given just start.
After I administered the meds (inj.), I was shocked at the woman's question:
"Nurse is there any need to buy these medications since we are going to run a test and the result hasn't proven that my baby has malaria?"
Meanwhile, upon seeing this baby, he has marks of mosquito bites all over him oooo.
I couldn't hide it! I said! Madam, look at this baby, even if the test result says otherwise, won't you question it?
Look at your baby, he has mosquito bites all over him and it's obvious what his condition would likely be.
Though other things may be involved but this one isn't far from it.
That's how she started asking where she can buy a mosquito net.
What I am saying in essence is, let's try to prevent malaria through using a mosquito net.
Ensure that you and your family sleep in it if you stay in a country with high malaria prevalence.
