GOOD LEADERSHIP!
✍️ The church is a gathering of people from different homes (functional and dysfunctional), cultures and orientations.
✍️ The home is where a family comes together with similar cultural beliefs.
✍️ The culture of a people make them unique.
✍️ In some Nigerian cultures, the wives kneels in the morning before her husband. If that husband is a pastor of a church, he should be careful not to expect all the women to kneel before him.
✍️ In some cultures, the younger ones prostrate before the Elders while greeting. This doesn't make those from other cultures who stand to greet, to be insolent.
✍️ Different parents apply different moods of discipline on their children.
✍️ In parenting and discipline, we don't employ same styles for all children, we consider their uniqueness and find out which style works.
✍️ When you are saddled with leadership position over people of different tribes, cultures, orientations, family backgrounds......even though they are all Christians, you must understand that those differences will play out.
✍️ If you are a leader in an institution, you must know that even though everyone is a graduate, their cultures, orientations, family heritages etc, will play out too.
✍️ If you are a leader in a school, like a teacher, you must understand that the students come from different homes, cultures, backgrounds, family heritages etc, so manage them well.
🤷♂️ The biggest error in leadership is when we want everyone to think like us, behave like people of our culture, respond to you like you have been used to, especially when our way of thinking, behavior, response are not universal.
✍️ A good leader will first understand the differences that exist within those he is leading, then try to understand their cultural beliefs, foundations, orientations etc so that he doesn't impose his on them and create rancour.
✍️ When you come into a new environment as a leader, you have to learn their way of thinking, dressing, greetings, beliefs, etc. You have to first accept them before bringing up yours. You don't come into a place and make their age long beliefs system feel inferior while yours is superior, especially when none is generally accepted.
✍️ A group of people can revolt over a leader when he or she doesn't care to understand them but wants everyone to understand him or her.
✍️ You can only change people when you first accept and understand them. When they trust you, you can change them to your way of thinking.
📌 This is also why relationships crumble. Someone comes into your life and wants you to abandon yourself of 25 years and accept his new ways without first trying to understand and accept you.
📌 Many of us want others to change without making any effort to change ourselves too, Maybe because we believe we are flawless and superior.
✍️ A good leader listens to the complaints of those he is leading and will careful examine them and respond appropriately. If they complain and you make them feel worthless, you may not like what they do next.
MOST TIMES, THE FOLLOWERS ARE THE ONES IN CHARGE!
