🌿What’s on my mind…
I feel like sharing this.
I was talking with a friend recently. He told me he takes alcohol to relieve stress. I smiled and said, “You’re actually doing the opposite; you’re subjecting your cells to oxidative stress.”
He looked surprised, so I explained further.
When you drink alcohol, your liver converts it (ethanol) into acetaldehyde, a toxic compound that generates free radicals. These free radicals cause oxidative stress, which damages your cells, proteins, and even DNA.
Alcohol also drains your body’s natural defense nutrients especially vitamins B1, B12, folate, magnesium, and zinc the same nutrients your cells need for energy production, tissue repair, and nerve function.
So while it might feel like relaxation on the surface, alcohol is quietly overworking your liver, dulling your mood, disturbing your sleep, and weakening your immune balance.
As a wellness advocate, I always remind people:
You don’t need alcohol to relax your peace is more refreshing.
Choose calm.
Choose hydration.
Choose nourishment. 🌿💚
