Its my pleasure to humbly felicitate on behalf of my family and the the good people of Nkanu East State Constituency with Hon. Augustine Nnamani Ozoigbondu for his successful re-election and inauguration as the PDP Chairman of Enugu State along side members of his team,,, The State Working Comittee and Executives of our great Party PDP Enugu State

Hon. Nnamani has been tested and tested and returned unoposed for his Leadership Lifestyle and Peaceful disposition. He is a great asset and unarguably, the best man for the job and a round peg in a round hole with regards to his political antecedents, calmness, humilty and Ploitical Soundness .
He has led our great party to landsliding victories in various elections.

I am optimistic he will lead PDP to outstanding victory in the near future.

Aguiyi was my brother,
friend and nieghbour in the Hallowed chambers as his seat is positioned next to mine

Since I met him in 2008, we have related very well and in him, I saw a true brother, friend and a dependable fellow with an indomitanle goal getter spirit.

Aguiyi came Saw and conquered as he trail blazed succesdfully navigating through the world of Business, Politics, Family Community, social and ecumenical fronts within a short but divinely propelled life.
We are confronted with the large vacuum his absence has created but hugely consoled by words of Eccl Chapter 3. and all the positive Legacies he left behind.

ACHIEVEMENTS OF RT. HON. PAUL NNAJIOFOR, ONONENYI IN HIS ONE (1) YEAR IN OFFICE OF 2ND TENURE AS A STATE LEGISLATOR JUNE 10TH, 2019 – JUNE 9TH 2020

Rt. Hon. Paul Nnajiofor Ononenyi assumed office for his 2nd tenure as a State legislator on the 10th of June, 2019, and was appointed the Chairman House Committee on Rural Development and CSDP.
On the resumption of his 2nd tenure Hon. Paul Nnajiofor.

1. Kick started the process of repositioning the Ministry and all MDA’s under his committee’s coverage which has resulted in the repeal and re-enactment of the CSDP Law; the bill which aim at bringing Social Development in Nkanu East and Enugu State communities at large will attract skill acquisition centres, renovation and construction of educational institutions, markets, town halls etc has passed first and second reading and has subsequently undergone successful public hearing under a joint committee he headed.

2. He saw the repositioning of Enugu State Fire Service as well as the repositioning and injection of new ideas on the operation of Enugu State Rural Electrification Board in support of Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi’s drive for sustainable rural electrification and lightening.

3. Hon. Nnajiofor through his committee is currently working on the review of the Community Development Project (CDP) laws of Enugu State.

4. He chaired the Adhoc committee that produced the Enugu State House of Assembly Legislative Term agenda: a working document for the 7th assembly.

5. He sponsored the bill for the setting up of Enugu State consumers Protection Agency currently going through legislative scrutiny.

6. He sponsored a motion of urgent public importance and petition against the unfriendly, indiscriminate charges and other unwholesome practices of EEDC against the good people of Nkanu East.

7. Hon. Nnajiofor’s renewed legislative leadership facilitated the reconstruction of a six class room block at CPS 1, Isigwe Ugbawka, though the ENSUBEB.

8. He attracted the ongoing CSDP/world bank assisted projects in the following communities of Nkanu East:
i. Isienu Amagunze
ii. Imeama Ugbawka
iii. Amofu Nkerefi
iv. Mbulu Owo
v. Ubahu
vi. Isiogbo Nara

9. Hon. Paul Nnajiofor has also facilitated the construction of Owinyi river bridge in Mbulu Owo by RAMP.

10. Sponsoring the training of young people of Nkanu East in Solar Energy panel production.

11. Hosting the Back to Jesus Christian outreach in Owo on December, 5, 2019.

12. Empowered over 180 people with new handsets for more effective communication.

13. He personally made financial support for the reconstruction of one of the burnt building in CPS Amagunze.

14. Sponsoring of some young pastors in theological schools.

15. Distribution of palliatives to more than 350 households in Nkanu East including 350 bags of rice, 70 cartons of noodles, 1500 hand sanitizers, 2000 face masks and over one million naira cash to cushion the harsh effect of hunger occasioned by the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

16. Rt. Hon. Nnajiofor packaged and sponsored various sensitization and awareness community campaigns aimed at the prevention of the community spread of the novel pandemic through radio announcements, posters, flyers, bill boards and organized public forums.

17. He sponsored and financed various award winning and cash backed prizes through radio programmes and some social media channels as a means of proving palliative supports to winners of such quizzes.

18. He organized Town hall meetings and interface for President General’s, various women and community leaders of Nkanu East on December 30 2019, April 12th and 13th 2020, and June 1st 2020.

19. Hon. Nnajiofor hosted constituency advocacy fora with PG’s, town criers of various communities, women leaders, religious leaders and various youth organizations aimed at fostering peace, unity and development between communities in Nkanu East.

20. Hon. Nnajiofor is also on the forefront leading his constituents on the fight against the community spread of coronavirus pandemic.

21. He visited various homes of the less privileged in Nkanu East Communities and beyond with different types of support.

22. He visited and paid for hospital bills for indigent constituents on December 24th 2019, February 22nd 2020 and April 13th 2020.

23. He is supporting the planting, renovation and equipping of churches such as Assembles of God Church Ohubo Ama nkanu, St Ebenezer Methodist Church Mbulu Owo, St. Jude Anglican church Owo etc all in Nkanu East L.G.A.

24. He has sponsored about 3 motions and co-sponsored other motions on notice.

25. He is sponsoring the Mbulu Owo talent hunt and football competition since 2007.

26. Facilitated The Admission Of More than 30 Students Of Nkanu East Extraction Into Various Higher Institutions In The Last One Year.

27. Facilitated Employment Of About 11 Teachers Of Nkanu East Extraction and other high profile political appointments.

With all these achievements and more, we the people of Nkanu East by evaluating the key functions of a legislature which are law making, representation and oversight, we can say that Rt. Hon. Nnajiofor has done well within the first year of his 2nd tenure in office, and it is evident that Rt. Hon. Paul Nnajiofor exceeded all the expectations
as a State legislator.

*How Paul Nnajiofor is fighting COVID-19 in his constituency*

The lawmaker representing the people of Nkanu East constituency at the Enugu State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Paul Nnajiofor Ononenyi has, yet again, taken the fight against Coronavirus pandemic to his base. This time, in a more aggressive approach.

The sensitisation and awareness programme which has its theme as: “*A One Day COVID-19 Community Spread Prevention Sensitisation Forum*” was organised by the two-time lawmaker in collaboration with *Ononenyi Foundation and Enugu State Community Mobilisation and Sensitisation Networks*.

The campaign which had representatives from all parts of the local government was held at Ukwu Akpu Centre, Amechi Idodo.

It also had the presence of many prominent sons and daughters of the neighbouring communities.

Speaking at the venue, His Royal Highness, Igwe Ezechiemeri Edeani, a traditional ruler from one of the communities, extolled Hon Nnajiofor’s quality leadership since his assumption of office. He stated that the lawmaker has displayed outstanding leadership portfolio by raking in dividends of democracy in the state.

The traditional ruler further Noted that the Hon. Member has attracted landmark projects not only to the people of Amechi Idodo, but to Nkanu-East local government in general.

On the Coronavirus pandemic, the highly revered Igwe urged the people of the local government to be watchful and mindful of their environment, adding that people should support the government to eradicate the virus by complying with the NCDC guidelines.

On his part, Nnajiofor noted that the purpose for the programme was not borne out of political motivation but driven by genuine concern to root out Coronavirus pandemic from Enugu, and prevent future outbreak.

Nnajiofor who commended Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi’s prompt response at the early stage of the pandemic, said that such swift approach by the state was the reason behind the minimal number of cases recorded in the state so far.

He further described Ugwuanyi’s strategy as excellent and successful in winning the war against the virus. According to him, no Governor could have done it better than the way Ugwuanyi had managed the pandemic.

He also lauded the effort of the local government Chairman, Hon. Uche Nwobodo, in making sure that the Governor’s directives were enforced to the letter. He further expressed his appreciation to all the Presidents General in the local government area for standing up to the fight.

On his part, the Local Government Chairman, Hon Uche Nwobodo, described Nnajiofor as a lawmaker with the interests of the local government at heart. Nnajiofor, he said, was a grassroots mobilizer and a leader of quintessential. He commended the quality and robust representation from the lawmaker.

The Chairman who was represented by the Supervisory Councilor for Health, Chief James Asiegbu, further dispelled the rumours that the virus was not real but a make-up to defraud the state as conceived out of ignorance.

On the need to maintain personal hygiene, one of the resource persons, a medical expert, Mrs Adaeze enjoined the people of the local government to wash their hands regularly with soap and running water, while also keeping to the rule of social and physical distancing. She demonstrated the acts of hand washing and personal cleanliness as a way of encouraging the people.

For the Director General, Ononenyi Support Group, Hon Charles Agbo, the fight to eradicate the virus must continue without getting weary. He called on all the constituents to keep supporting their illustrious son with prayers.

While distributing materials worth million of Naira to the people, Hon Ononenyi maintained that the curfew and restrictions in inter-states movements were still effective. He charged members of the Neighborhood Watch to be vigilant and be up and doing.

According to him, whistle-blowing policy has come to stay. He, therefore, encouraged members of the local government to report any suspicious and illegal movements within their border.

Speaking with Infotech News According to him, whatever he can do to ensure that his people are taken care of, especially in this lockdown period must be done for them because they are the ones he represents
the gesture was as a result of identifying with the constituents in the period of coronavirus ,
I cannot do but extend my outreach of helping hands to my immediate constituents.

The Governor means well for all Citizens including Nkanu East People so ensure you cooperate with both the Federal, State and Local Government directives at this difficult moments by

THE NEED TO ESTABLISH THE ENUGU STATE CONSUMER PROTECTION AGENCY
Enugu State government has been urged to establish a State Consumer Protection Committee as well as encourage residents of Enugu State to form voluntary consumer protection associations for the purpose of protecting the rights of consumers of goods and services.
In a motion, Rt. Hon. Paul Nnajiofor noted that the absence of State consumer protection committee, as provided in the Federal Completive and Consumer Protection Commission Act 2019 part 11 (4) (1) and section 2 (h), is a serious fact hindering the protection of consumers of goods and services against the violation of their right.
It is sad indeed that the public outcry against Enugu Electricity Distribution Company in the entire region is falling on deaf ears. We will be failing on our sacred duties if we keep mute on this ugly development while the people we have their mandate to represent are unjustly treated oppressed and marginalized to an unimaginable level and it is our onerous duty as elected representatives of our various constituencies to bring, at all times, issues that affect our people to the knowledge of government authorities,” he said.
He added that, during the Recent Enugu State Electricity Consumers Engagement Forum held recently in the State, which attracted participants from Enugu State House of Assembly Small and Medium Enterprise Development Agency of Nigeria, Nigeria students from tertiary institution etc, a lot of issues on various ways our people are being exploited by the EEDC through their unwholesome activities such as perennial power outages, making consumers to pay more for electricity billings which do not reflect actual consumption, indiscriminate disconnections without notice, even when consumers were not owing, and payment of illegal reconnection fees to EEDC by electricity consumers were discussed.
It is a thing of joy that the meeting enlightened the participants on consumer rights and how to channel their complaints because ignorance of their right and handling mechanism have been an impediment to address consumer complaints in the state.
In the course of the engagement forum, the electricity consumers in Enugu State were urged to study the provisions of Electricity Power Sector Reform Act 2005 to enable them have information that will enable them prevent violation of their rights as consumers by EEDC.
It was also discovered that EEDC has violated provisions of Electric Power Sector Reform Act made to protect consumers and there is lack enforcement of the provisions by Nigeria Electricity Regulatory Consumer in the state, which gives the EEDC opportunity to exploit and oppress consumers in Enugu State with the dangerous tendency of causing breach of peace.
Participants were surprised to notice that there is absence of Enugu State Consumers Protection Commission Act 2019, part II (4) (1) and section 2(h) Sub Section 1, (2) of the same Act.
There is no data showing the number of metered and unmetered electricity consumers in the state spite of the fact that Enugu State and local government councils are among the owners of 40% share of the EEDC.
The establishment of State Consumer Protection Committee in Enugu State will provide ample and legal opportunities for the protection of the right of voluntary consumers and every group in synergy with FCCPC, he said.
The lawmaker representing Nkanu East Constituency prayed the House to urge Enugu State Consumer Protection Committee in line with part 11(4) (1) and section 2 (h) of the Federal Competitive and Consumers Protection Commission Act, 2019 as well as encourage residents of Enugu State to form Voluntary Consumer Protection Association Act for the purpose of protecting the right of consumers of electricity as well as other goods and services.
He also urged the House to direct the EEDC to stop forthwith illegal monetary collections which include: reconnection fees and estimated billing without following estimated billing methodology approved by Electric Power Sector Reform Act 2005 calling on the House to urge Enugu State Government to key into “The Operational Light up Rural Nigeria (OLRN)” initiative, a sustainable alternative energy rural electrification programme, based primarily on solar technology to provide affordable and reliable access to electricity of up to 1 megawatt per rural community with no connectivity to the national grid in Nigeria.
Rt. Hon. Paul Nnnajiofor appealed to the House to urge Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission NERC to live up to expectations without compromise in the course of discharging its duties to Nigerians.
