MY JOURNEY (Part 1)

It’s been a while and from my post here, I indicated that my silence was all for the best….now my story…

It was challenging to move into and adjust to an environment which is both culturally and professionally different from where I was coming! While I got enrolled to study a course in public health and health promotion at Swansea University. I was privileged to engage in a part time employment where I support individuals with mental health, autism and learning disabilities as a Healthcare support staff. My job role was central to promoting the overall health of the individuals I worked with which included but not limited to- supporting the individuals to participate in leisure, educational, and employment-related activities that suited their needs and supporting them with self-care skills (such as eating, drinking, bathing, using the toilet, getting around, going to bed, and getting out of bed).

As I worked in this job role, I developed a good number of both soft and hard skills which includes but not limited to;
- effective communication
-adaptability
-time management
-work ethic
-influencing without authority
-team work
-trainings related to my specific job roles (e.g. valuing individuals with disabilities, safeguarding, legislations etc).

It is captivating how one year has passed already and I have become an edited and better version of myself in my personal, academic and professional life. I would love to use this opportunity to inform my all my health lovers that will be graduating in style in the month of July. A journey that has always been a dream and plan has now become a reality💪

I didn’t do this alone!
God did it!
He is the perfect planner!

Meanwhile, this journey cannot be completed without including my professional life … so you wait for it.

My name is Moimoi or Moin-moin which happens to be my local name. They call me beans pudding/bean cake in English. I am made from the plant seed called beans, however, my skins were removed to get a smoother texture.

To all the bean lover who are scared of eating bean because of the flatulence or bloated tummy it gives them, I can become your another option😁. You can eat me with any vegetables of your choice if you wish to increase your fiber intake 👌. I am here for you always, although processing me may be tiring for you😁. Just process me and eat me!

Just to remind us that food safety is everyone’s business…..through taking adequate precautions while preparing food and when food is at table, we are directly and indirectly preventing food-borne diseases like salmonella that causes typhoid, e-coli that causes diarrhea, Giardia infection that causes Giardiasis and more.

Food-borne illnesses are life threatening too. Please do take care and do the right things which could involve;

- washing that fruit or veggies before consumption
-washing your hands properly before making food or serving foods.
-washing the plates properly before using it to serve foods
-Ensuring adequate disposal of left-over or spoilt foods.

An open letter to all my Health Lovers...

I’d want to apologise for my prolonged silence. I have received numerous emails, some of which I ‘ve responded to and others to which I’m yet to respond. Please bear with me as I go through them all and respond accordingly. Just like the last time I posted, I have gone back to school to update my knowledge on nutrition and health but this time, on population health. So I had to prioritize in order to avoid becoming bogged down in the middle of anything.
