Part 3
Ada, who had prided herself on her strength and dominance in the marriage, fell into shock when she received the medical diagnosis. The doctor’s words echoed in her ears—there was no cure. She turned to Emeka in fury, blaming him for ruining her life.
“You did this to me! You destroyed everything!” she screamed, shaking with rage and despair.
Emeka, already drowning in regret, could only bow his head. “I didn’t mean for this to happen… I just needed peace, Ada.”
The weight of his words struck her like lightning. She had made his home unbearable, driven him into the arms of another. Yet, none of that excused what he had done. Their marriage, already broken, was now beyond repair.
As their health declined, so did their spirits. They became prisoners of their own choices, their pain a reminder of the home they had failed to build with love and respect.
The Lesson
A marriage is meant to be a partnership, a haven where both spouses find support and encouragement. When a home is toxic, it drives people to seek comfort elsewhere, often leading to disastrous consequences. Emeka and Ada’s story is a painful reminder that love alone is not enough—a conducive, peaceful, and respectful home is essential for a prosperous and healthy marital life.
