MAYOR MICHAEL UCHE OGALA RECEIVED NSUKKA JOURNALISTS FOUNDATION ON A COURTESY VISIT.
Mayor Uche Ogala the executive chairman of Igbo Eze North Local government area and Hon. Onyekachi Eya the secretary to the local government Area received the executives of Nsukka Journalist forum led by their Chairman Comrade Benson Ezugwu, Vice chairman Amaka Uche nnadiukwu, the secretary Chief Felix Abugu, Γhinwe Mama , Ugwuanyi Felix, Oliver Ossai, Jude ikpe and Obioma Ogili the PRO Igbo Eze North local government Area on the courtesy visit.
During the interaction, Comrade Benson Ezugwu commended the local government chairman, Mayor Uche Ogala over his efforts on the developments that are going on in his local government.
Comrade Benson assured the chairman of the Media commitment and support for his government, by giving appropriate advice when necessary.
He also promised that the organisation will be promoting his projects on their individual media blog and newspapers.
The executive chairman of Igbo Eze North, Hon. Uche Ogala appreciated the visit and thier purpose of coming.
Mayor Ogala went ahead to inform the group about the security crisis that took place at Iyionu Aguibeje where about 21 individuals were kidnapped following a security glitch where they were attending a traditional marriage.
Mayor Ogala Said that in his government he initiated what he called PRO ACTIVE Approach, siting the issue of security levy.
Furthermore, he said that before hand, the communities in Igbo Eze North do pay levy during ceremonies and that the fees have been increase sometimes. Now, the council decided to increase the fees and some people frowned at it. With the recent incident, some individual want him to perform magic.
During the conversation, he told the journalists that the council formed a committee that will look into all the matters and bring the report to the council this month of May.
Again, Comrade Oliver Ossai adviced that the security gadgets should be under review, so that personnel won't be riding bikes with guns across their chest.
He also asked the chairman about the rumour of demolishing the Eke Ozzi market without proper information given to the marketers.
However, the chairman replied him that no one lost his goods or complained of any damages,that shows they were genuinely informed at the appropriate time.
He also said that people should understand that development comes with destruction/demolition, to be able to rebuilt.
More so, Chief Felix Abugu the secretary to the foundation and Ugwuanyi Felix complained about traffic problems along Umuida junction,via Imufu, Okata and Onitcha Enugu road.
Chief Abugu said that vehicles park both sides of the road bringing congestion.
Mayor Ogala reassured that his government is trying their best to eradicate the traffic problems but because the road has become a major road for transporters/travellers from Abuja, Kogi Northern route, it will take a gradual process to rectify it.
Finally, Mayor Uche Ogala emphasised that a journey of 1000 miles starts from a step and that development comes with bits and pieces together.
In all, he reassured that Igbo Eze North will rejoice because the end justifies the means.
