Palm oil business is the new fintech except that it comes with real PROFITS, not just valuations. When you read the financial results of Okomu Oil and Presco, you will understand where the value is located right now in Nigeria. Today, Presco continues the spectacular results:
“Presco Plc has recorded an exceptional financial performance for the 2024 fiscal year, reporting a staggering N128 billion pre-tax profit, marking a 156.05% increase from the N50 billion recorded in 2023. The palm oil producer’s latest financial results,... show robust growth across key metrics, with revenue, profits, and asset valuation all reaching new highs.”
The palm oil category has outperformed many banks in the country and you are right to anoint it as the new gold and bitcoin. Farm store is looking for builders in this space: Simply, the data looks great, and agro-allied & agro-processing companies in Nigeria have promises. Indeed when no one can find US dollars to import food items, and We The People must still eat, the local products will have moments. In other words, this is a moment for agro in Nigeria, and young people should get into it.
With cosmetics, makeup, etc becoming a norm in the beauty space, palm oil is the new gold. You cannot produce enough palm oil these days because everyone needs it to create makeup. Farm store stands with farmers, agro-allied startups like Vetsark, Winich Farms, etc we have invested in. We want more because palm oil is the agro-bitcoin when you look at the profits these companies are declaring.
Are you building the new Presco? We want to know at Farm store

*Anti-Corruption Group Warns EFCC Against Violating Bello’s Rights, Listening to Political Enemies*

The Anti-Corruption Network (A-CN) has commended former Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello for submitting himself to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for trial.

The Anti-Corruption Network views Bello's latest action as proof of his willingness to cooperate with the authorities and clear his name, adding that it demonstrates his commitment to upholding the rule of law and respecting Nigeria's justice institutions.

In a statement co-signed by Comrade Umar Sadiq, Convener and Orji Moses Okwu, secretary, the group described Bello as a positive example for other public officials.

However, the Anti-Corruption Network cautioned the EFCC to ensure that Bello's rights are not violated during the trial process, urging the commission to adhere to international best practices and Nigeria's laws in handling this matter.

The group said it is aware that the case may have political undertones. Therefore, it urged the EFCC to conduct a fair and impartial trial devoid of any political influence or bias.

The statement added: "The commission must demonstrate its independence and commitment to upholding justice, rather than serving any political agenda.

"It is crucial that the EFCC ensures that Governor Bello is given a fair hearing, with access to all necessary documents and evidence. The commission must also guarantee that the trial is conducted in a transparent and accountable manner, with regular updates to the public.

"Furthermore, we call on the EFCC to respect Governor Bello's rights to a fair trial, as enshrined in the Nigerian Constitution and international human rights law. This includes the right to be presumed innocent until proven guilty, the right to a fair and public hearing, and the right to be free from arbitrary detention.

"In conclusion, we reiterate our commendation of Governor Bello for his courageous action and urge the EFCC to ensure a fair and transparent trial process. We will continue to monitor the situation closely and advocate for the upholding of human rights and the rule of law in Nigeria."

Edo Victory Shows Nigerians Support Our Economic Programme – Tinubu

The President said the victory testifies to the people’s support for the ruling party, “its progressive ideals and economic reengineering programme”.

Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy disclosed this in a statement on Sunday.

He said the President commended INEC for conducting a free and fair election while asking those that are aggrieved to seek legal redress.

“The victory testified to the people’s support for the ruling party, its progressive ideals, its economic reengineering programme and its commitment to improving the lives of Nigerians.”

The President urged Senator Okpebholo not to gloat over his victory but to see it as a challenging call to service and encouraged him to demonstrate magnanimity by reaching out to his political rivals and uniting the people of Edo State to ensure its development.

President Tinubu also praised other candidates who participated in the election for their contributions to advancing Nigeria’s democracy, saying peaceful political contests, such as the one on Saturday, portray Nigeria as a stable democracy.

He also commended the people of Edo for their orderly and peaceful conduct during the election, underscoring the maturing of Nigeria’s democracy after 25 years.

“I commend the INEC and our security agencies for working round the clock to conduct a successful, peaceful and largely hitch-free exercise. INEC has once again demonstrated that it is committed to organising a free and fair election in our country”, President Tinubu said.

I'm very happy that I apologised publicly to Yahaya Bello for joining the bandwagon of attacks on him. Now, I've been vindicated. The action of EFCC on Wednesday has shown clearly that this is persecution and not fight against corruption. They've justified that Yahaya Bello's life is not safe with them. Many Nigerians are now saying that there is something underneath apart from these allegations of financial crime - Comrade Daniel Atayi, Rights Activist.

Breaking: Choas as EFCC Storm Kogi Lodge in Asokoro, Move to Forcefully Arrest Bello, Fire Gunshots.

Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crmes Commission (EFCC) has reported stormed the Kogi governor’s lodge located in Asokoro area of Abuja, fire gunshots in a bid to arrest the embattled former governor of Kogi state, Alh. Yahaya Bello.

The report signed by Ohiare Michael, media director of Yahaya Bello, read;
“It has come to our notice that people suspected to be operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission are currently around the Kogi Government Lodge, Asokoro in an attempt to forcefully arrest former Governor Yahaya Bello. They were shooting sporadically.

“It was reported earlier that the former Governor went to the EFCC Office voluntarily earlier today but the Commission told him to leave and come at a later date, only to mount a gestapo-like attack on the Kogi State Government facility in Asokoro.

“We want to place it on record that the EFCC should be held accountable if anything untoward happens to him.

“Tonight's attack was needless as the former Governor made himself available to the EFCC in their office for interrogation. The EFCC had no question to ask Alh. Yahaya Bello in the morning, but suddenly, they are out to arrest him.

“This action is condemnable. They have displayed the very reason many Nigerians believe they were fighting political battles instead of the mandate to fight corruption. This action reflects much more than the fight against corruption.

“We will keep Nigerians posted.

Recall that Ohiare Michael had earlier reported that the former governor of Kogi state voluntarily honoured the invitation of the EFCC. A report refuted by the commission, insisting that that Bello is still wanted by the commission for an alleged misappropriation of N80.2 billion.

JUST IN: Former Governor Yahaya Bello Succumbs to Pressure, Surrenders to EFCC

Former Governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello has after months of being declared wanted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for alleged misappropriation of N80.2 billion, appeared before the Commission.

A statement on Wednesday by Yahaya Bello’s Media office Director, Ohiare Michael, made available to newsmen said Bello ‘willingly' surrendered to the anti-graft agency because the former Kogi governor has "great respect for the rule of law and supports President Tinubu’s fight against corruption in the country.”

He said, “This decision was made after due consultations with his family, legal team and political allies.

“The former Governor, who has great respect for the rule of law and constituted authority, had, all the while, only sought the enforcement of his fundamental rights to ensure due process.

“The case has been before a competent court of jurisdiction, and Alhaji Yahaya Bello had been duly represented by his legal team at every hearing. It is important for the former Governor to now honour the invitation of the EFCC to clear his name as he has nothing to hide and nothing to fear.

“The former Governor believes firmly in the efforts of the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to place Nigeria on the path of sustainable economic development and supports the fight against corruption in the country.

“It is on record that he was the first Governor of Kogi State to put in place an anti-corruption mechanism to check graft and ensure that the resources of the State work for the people of the State,” the statement reads in part.

Gov. Fubara Dares Supreme Court, Suspends LG Chairman Against Apex Court Judgement

The political crisis rocking Rivers state has taken a new swipe as Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has ordered the immediate suspension of Otonye Briggs, Chairman of the Caretaker Committee of Akuku-Toru Local Government Area.

The governor's directive was issued on Tuesday in Port Harcourt through his media aide, Nelson Chukwudi.

The statement announcing the suspension read, "The Chairman, Caretaker Committee of Akuku-Toru Local Government Area, Hon Barrister Otonye Briggs, has been suspended with immediate effect."

No reason was given for the suspension, but Fubara has already appointed a replacement.

Hon Bitebobo Nelson Amieye has been directed to take over as Chairman immediately.

Briggs has been instructed to hand over all council property in his possession to the new Caretaker Committee Chairman.

This is coming after the June 12 Supreme Court judgement, conferring full autonomy to Local Government Councils while also condemning the suspension of local council chairpersons by state Governors.

Anti-Corruption Agency, ICPC Arrests Ex-Kaduna Governor El-Rufai's Finance Commissioner At Lagos Airport

Operatives of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) have arrested a former Commissioner of Finance and Accountant General in Kaduna State, under Nasir el-Rufai's administration, Shizzer Joy Nasara Bada, at the Lagos Airport.
Bada was reportedly travelling out of the country on Sunday when ICPC operatives apprehended her at the Murtala Muhammed Airport in Lagos.
The ICPC officials said there was rising suspicion of a potential escape in the wake of mounting corruption allegations against the ex-governor el-Rufai, and herself.
Sources close to the government indicated to The Guardian that the ICPC had been tracking Bada's movements after receiving an intelligence report suggesting that she might leave the country to evade investigation.
The arrest came as part of a broader crackdown on officials who served under el-Rufai's administration, with multiple figures now under scrutiny for their roles in the alleged financial mismanagement of the state.
Already, el-Rufai has been indicted by the Kaduna State House of Assembly in its committee report of allegedly syphoning N423 billion from the state treasury. While the specific allegations against Bada remain under wraps, insiders believe they are connected to large-scale financial irregularities, including the mismanagement of public funds and alleged embezzlement.
Bada's arrest has sparked widespread interest, with political observers questioning whether this could be the beginning of a wider probe into the former governor's administration.
The Commission is expected to provide more details as the investigation unfolds, potentially exposing a web of corruption that could implicate several top figures.
Recall that Nasir El-Rufai, had also initiated a legal action against the Kaduna State House of Assembly following its claim that his administration misappropriated N432 billion during his eight-year tenure, resulting in significant state debt.
A fundamental rights suit was filed at the Federal High Court in Kaduna in June by the former governor's attorney, Abdulhakeem Mustapha, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria.
