BREAKING: Trump’s threat: China warns US against interference in Nigeria’s affairs
The Chinese government has pledged its firm support to the President Bola Tinubu administration amid threats of military action by United States President Donald Trump.

Addressing a press conference on Tuesday, Mao Ning, spokesperson of China’s foreign ministry, said China firmly opposes any country using religion and human rights as an excuse to interfere in other countries’ internal affairs, and threatening other countries with sanctions and force.

Ning was answering a question on Trump’s threat of military action in Nigeria over alleged persecution of Christians.

“As Nigeria’s comprehensive strategic partner, China firmly supports the Nigerian government in leading its people on the development path suited to its national conditions.

“China firmly opposes any country using religion and human rights as an excuse to interfere in other countries’ internal affairs, and threatening other countries with sanctions and force,” Ning said.

DAILY POST reports that Bayo Onanuga, spokesman to Nigerian President, Bola Tinubu, shared China’s reaction on his X handle on Tuesday.

According to a report by Daily Post on Monday, October 27, 2025, former National Officer of the Labour Party, Kenneth Okonkwo, has alleged that the All Progressives Congress (APC) is using intimidation tactics to weaken opposition parties ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Speaking on Arise Television’s Morning Show on Monday, Okonkwo claimed that the African Democratic Congress (ADC), which he now represents, has faced multiple disruptions during its political meetings across several states.

According to him, “ADC is on fire. The only thing is that we have an APC that is using every method to intimidate and scatter the plans of the opposition.”

He alleged that ADC gatherings in Kaduna, Lagos, and Ekiti States were broken up by thugs reportedly acting under the supervision of security operatives.

Okonkwo accused the ruling party of manipulating law enforcement agencies to frustrate opposition activities, in violation of the Electoral Act, which guarantees equal protection for all political parties.

Despite the alleged attacks, the actor-turned-politician maintained that the ADC remains committed to its cause, expressing confidence that the party will perform strongly in the next general elections.

“ADC is going to form the next government of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, we are strategizing, and we are going to beat this APC,” he said, describing the APC as “a party already imploding,” and its endorsements as “an amalgamation of sycophants.
