PORT HARCOURT 2026: THE BAR GOES BEYOND LIMITS
The 2026 Nigerian Bar Association Annual General Conference has officially closed in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
For 5 days, the theme "BEYOND LIMITS" set the tone. It was a bold call on lawyers to rise above conventional boundaries, embrace innovation, and respond decisively to the evolving demands of justice, governance, and professional excellence.
Key Takeaways:
1. Beyond Outdated Systems: We must reform legal education, court processes, and law practice to meet global standards.
2. Beyond Complacency and Division: The Bar must speak with one voice on rule of law, human rights, and nation building.
3. Beyond Fear: Lawyers must lead boldly in policy, technology, and public interest. Integrity and innovation must lead.
Port Harcourt reminded us that the work of the Bar is not confined to the courtroom. It extends to communities, to technology, and to the future of Nigeria.
The conference is over. The mandate begins now.
Let’s take this energy back to our chambers, courts, and communities and truly practice Beyond Limits.
