You keep saying "I'll deal with it if it happens." It happened last year. Twice.
The washing machine. Then the car. Both "unexpected."
Except neither one was actually unexpected. Stuff breaks, that's just what stuff does over time.
The surprise wasn't the event. It was having nothing ready for it.
You'll think "I can't predict what'll break." You don't have to predict the specific thing. You just have to expect that something will. An emergency fund isn't about knowing what's coming, it's about being ready for the fact that something always does.
