There are so many rumours about Instagram these days that it's so hard to keep up with whats real and what's fake.

Here are 3 Instagram myths that you need to stop believing today

❌: Success is only determined by likes and follower count.
✅: Myth! Likes and follower count is not the most reliable measure of success on Instagram. These vanity metrics might be great for influencers but they are not as important for business owners. Focus on more relevant metrics like link clicks, product page views, email button taps etc.

❌: You should never use scheduling apps.
✅: Myth! There is no reason why you shouldn't use scheduling apps to post your content! Scheduling apps are such a great tool that Facebook even created its own - Meta Business Suite. So go ahead and schedule your posts, reels and stories with your favourite scheduling app, just remember to be present and engage with your audience when your posts go live.

❌: You should post only reels.
✅: Myth! You should be using all the content formats that Instagram provides. While Reels are great for boosting visibility, other content formats like single posts, carousels, stories and lives can help you build a relationship with and nurture your already existing audience.

It's time to start creating content that sells! Want to know how? Keep reading 👇

It's not enough to have a great product or service, you also need to create compelling content that grabs the attention of your target audience and makes them want to take action to buy your product or service.

So how do you create content that sells?

1. Use high-quality photos, videos and graphics for your content - Your picture, videos or graphic posts might be the first thing a potential customer sees about your business and when the quality of your post is bad, it might give them the impression that your product or service is of low quality/value.

2. Grab their attention with your headline - The first 3 lines of your caption is very important. Whatever you start your caption with will determine whether your audience will click "more" to keep reading or not.

3. Use keywords and hashtags that are relevant to your business - Think of what your ideal customer will be searching for on Instagram and add these words and phrases to your caption. Also use hashtags that are relevant to your business so that you show up when people search for products or services like yours!

4. Always end with a call to action (CTA) - Don't forget to include a call to action phrase in your content to encourage your audience to take action.

🚫 Buying fake likes and followers - While it might seem like an easy way to make your business look successful, it will never bring in any real money for your business and you can even lose your account! Focus on growing your business with real followers who genuinely like your products and are more likely to buy from you.

🚫 Turning off your comment section - This is a huge red flag! When you turn off comments on all the post on your page, you look like you have something to hide and potential customers will be less likely to trust you.

If you are dealing with a lot of spam comments, Instagram has a feature that lets you limit unwanted interactions.

🚫 Using low-quality pictures and graphics - As an online business, the quality of the product pictures you post can make or break your sales! Always ensure that you post high-quality pictures and graphics that show your customers exactly what they will get when they buy from you.

🚫 Using/reposting content without permission - Only post your own original content or content you have written permission to use. Don't forget to credit the original creator too.

🚫 Not engaging with your followers - Instagram isn't just for posting product pictures, it's for engagement too! Interacting with your followers will help you build relationships and encourage customer loyalty too. The algorithm will also recognise the relationship and will be more likely to show your content to them.

👉 Does this post relate to my business and align with my business goals?

Every piece of content you post on your business page should relate to your business and align with your business goals. It's ok to post random memes on a personal account but for your business account, ensure that your post is relevant to who you are, what you do, who you serve, and what you want to be known for.

👉 Will my audience find this post valuable?

What kind of value is your post providing? Is it entertaining, informing inspiring or educating? Instagram users are selfish, they only want to see posts that give them some form of value! So before you post it, ask yourself, what's in it for them?

👉 Will this post lead my audience to take the desired action?

What do you want your audience to do after seeing your post? Follow you? Leave a comment? Click on the link in your bio? Tap the post to shop? Ensure that your post includes a relevant CTA that will tell them what to do next.
