7 TIPS TO HELP SINGERS BUILD STAGE PRESENCE
❗❗❗❗❗❗❗❗❗❗❗❗❗❗❗
1.Find what makes you unique and lean into it: Don't be comfortable singing like Theophilus Sunday, Mercy Chinwo etc it's a misplaced identify, I see some people excited when they say you sing like a celebrity artist hmmm it's not a good thing cause when they hear you sing they hear that celebrity and not you. Develop your voice and discover your uniqueness.

2. Use the Whole Stage: The stage is for you make use of it and move round, it helps you reduce fear and makes you build for confidence, "no go close eyes too much fall for stage oo abeg"😂

3. Avoid Lapses in Energy: As the Holy Spirit leads you be sensitive as you move up keep going and don't come down, cause when you allow emotions you will find yourself moving up and down.

4. Choose a Great Outfit: Please dress well ooo just because it's church does not mean you should wear slipper's and go for ministrations haba. God is a clean and excellent God please dress well.

5. Record Your Performances: Recording your Ministrations will help you correct yourself and make your performance better, it will help you gain mastery.

6. Know Your Audience: This is very important if not for a specific instructions from the Holy Spirit please know your audience and apply wisdom, you can't go to USA to minister and sing Hausa song throughout and expect the whole audience to understand and flow with you, at least you have to know that they are English Speaking Country so you will sing English songs to so that they can flow and worship God.

7. Practice Makes Perfect: The more you practice the better you get, don't joke with practice cause sometimes you will feel like not practicing but do it cause you are on your way to becoming a professional.

REASONS WHY SOME SINGERS DON'T SEE IMPROVEMENT ON THERE VOICE

The reason why allot of singers don't see improvement on there voice is because of the the following:

1. Lack Of Consistency
Allot of singers want good voice but are not consistent in rehearsals, they only practice when they feel like, but it does not work like that. You need to practice even when you don't feel like practicing and be consistent at it. Make sure you monitor your growth cause you can be consistent for 5 years doing same thing without much improvement.

2. Lack of Scoring Songs
Scoring of songs do allot to your voice than you can imagine, there is a difference between scoring songs and listening to a song. You can listen to a song while driving, cooking etc, but scoring songs needs total concentration and time making sure you do exactly what was done in the song. I always tell my students that if you can sing the song exactly it means you can do it more than the original writer of the song. So don't joke with scoring songs cause it will improve your voice drastically.

3. Lack of Sacrifice
Allot of singers have this bad mindset that everything should come to them free "Just dey play" if you can't sacrifice money to gain more knowledge about what will improve your singing then you are not ready to improve. As much as I give free teachings online my personal students on paid classes get first class materials and teachings on how to improve there voice and they are seeing quick results. What value do you place on your voice?

4. Lack Of Exposure
If your mind is not expose to excellence in music then you will continue to become a local singer. Expose your mind by scoring songs outside your locality God did not call you for local impact but for global impact, don't be lazy there is nothing impossible in music keep working on yourself and you will attain excellence. UNDERSTANDING THE ROLE OF A LEAD SINGER 🎙️🎙️🎙️🎙️🎙️🎙️🎙️🎙️🎙️🎙️🎙️🎙️🎙️

WHO IS A LEAD SINGER/VOCALIST?
The lead vocalist in popular music is typically the member of a group or band whose voice is the most prominent melody in a performance where multiple voices may be heard. The lead singer sets their voice against the accompaniment parts of the ensemble as the dominant sound.

A good illustration is a moving Van or Transportation Bus. Inside the van,there are many individuals,all of them are sitting down and maybe talking or just looking outside the side wheel screen(The passengers). While one particular Person is Moving, controlling, and carrying the other individuals while focusing on the front wheel screen (The driver) to ensure they safely reach their destination.

*👉 YOU can be a good singer because you have a natural sweet voice, but it requires a lot of techniques to become a good vocalist.

ROLES OF A LEAD SINGER/VOCALIST 🎉🎉

*👉 PRAYER AND STUDYING THE WORD: As a lead singer, you need to know that music is spiritual the secular musician understand this, that's why they indulge in different forms of activities such as Smoking, drinking e.t.c to get high/become soaked. Now as a lead Gospel music Minister,soak yourself with the word of God, create room for a special prayer meeting with the Holy Spirit.

*👉TEMPO/TIMING: These has to do with the rhythmical beats and the tempo structure of the songs. Now during rehearsal or even when you're leading, learn a simple Finger Tapping or foot counting technique before the beat comes up or even when the beat is on.this will help you stay on the beat at any given moment you're leading.

*👉 MUSICAL AND LYRICAL STRUCTURE:These has to do with, understanding how the song is being arranged (From the intro, verses, chorus,bridges,call and Response,outro) and the content of the song.before you go on stage to lead, pick songs that align with each other.for instance if you choose a song that is talking about the Goodness of God, understand that all the other songs must also talk about The Goodness of God.

*👉 COMMUNICATION (call and Response): Ensure to engage your audience along with your songs, remember you're singing for people.Leading is different from presentation.you have to engage everyone to sing along with you.

*👉 BOLDNESS (Overcoming Fright): Sing with authority, don't close your eyes for too long. In a Horizontal method, firmly Hold your microphone 🎤 2 inches away from your mouth (To avoid echo and feedback). Sing with gladness and boldness.

*👉 EMOTION EXPOSURE: Don't just mount and sing as if you're singing inside your room, understand that people are looking up to you,they want to do it along with you. So your facial expression matters a lot. And the content of the song determines your emotional exposure.

*👉 IMPROVISATION : As a lead singer always come prepared, always score songs. A lead singer is not lazy. You may prepare to minister only two songs and the pastor may decide to give room for more songs.so already be prepared, always learn how to improvise.

*👉 PROFESSIONALISM:These has to do with Applying RIFFS/Runs, Ad-libs,vocal nabs,chest voice,Head voice, Breathe control,Vocal warmup,voice projection, Dictions and words phrasing, credibility, versatility, Teachableness,accountability, and getting a vocal coach).
