Imagine walking through a park and picking a fresh apple for free. 🍎 New Zealand has made this a reality. Across cities like Christchurch, Nelson, and the Kāpiti Coast, local councils have planted fruit and nut trees in public parks, playgrounds, and walkways so anyone can harvest them freely. Christchurch alone has over 6,800 fruit and nut trees on council-owned land, including plums, pears, walnuts, and apples planted near schools so children can pick fresh fruit on the way to class.

The Open Orchards programme was launched by the Nelson Marlborough District Health Board to fight the obesity epidemic, making it one of the first regions in the world to take such a holistic public health approach through edible public spaces. 🌳 The Kāpiti Coast District Council alone has planted over 140 fruit trees across its parks, with more added every year. This is not just generosity. It is a reminder that cities can feed people too.

Could a quadrillionaire ever exist?

According to Elon Musk, the idea is not impossible.

But he argues that reaching that level of wealth would require something far bigger than creating successful companies on Earth.

It would require expanding industry into space.

Musk has suggested that truly enormous economic growth could come from establishing large scale manufacturing and industrial operations on the Moon and eventually Mars.

In his view, humanity's long term future depends on becoming a multi planetary civilization capable of producing resources, products, and infrastructure beyond Earth.

The numbers involved are almost difficult to comprehend.

A quadrillion dollars is one thousand trillion dollars.

It is a figure so large that no individual in human history has come remotely close to it.

Yet Musk argues that the creation of entirely new planetary economies could dramatically expand the scale of global wealth over the coming centuries.

Supporters see the idea as a bold vision of humanity's future.

Critics view it as highly speculative and far beyond current technological and economic realities.

Regardless of perspective, the concept captures attention because it pushes people to think about the long term potential of civilization beyond Earth.

For now, factories on the Moon and Mars remain a vision rather than reality.

But the discussion highlights how rapidly ideas that once belonged solely to science fiction are becoming part of serious conversations about the future.

Whether or not a quadrillionaire ever exists, the bigger question may be what humanity is capable of building if it expands beyond a single planet.
