A CALL TO HELP A FRIEND CUM BROTHER
I am reaching out with a heavy heart to request for support for a brother (Sesugh Mande) following series of life-altering events that have immensely affected his wellbeing and livelihood.
My friend and brother has recently graduated from Joseph Sarwaun Tarka University, Makurdi and was scheduled to commence his NYSC, but his life has taken a difficult turn.
In September 2023, just two months before he planned to register for the mandatory National Youth Service (NYSC) programme, he fell seriously ill with malaria, typhoid and a severe ulcer. During this period, he tragically lost his hearing due to drug reaction. It will interest you to know that this condition has despised any hearing aid despite seeking various treatments and medical support , he is now recommended for a cochlear implant which he is yet to afford.
At a point, I had to come to terms with his new reality, he returned to work and began barbing to cater for his needs(A job he was doing during his undergraduate days). This he does cheerfully but is highly difficult interacting with his customers. He continued with hope and faith, trusting God for healing and a brighter future.
Late last year December 2024, he was faced with another devastating blow — the loss of his surviving benefactor, his dear mother, who was his greatest support in all aspects of life. Since her passing for barely five months now, he has been doing his best to stay strong and move on amidst these challenges .
Sadly, on 24th May 2025, tragedy struck once again. A fire engulfed his room at Ioryaa Ako Street In Makurdi and all of his belongings were destroyed. He is now left with nothing except what he was putting on that day. The emotional toll is indescribable, he is heartbroken and struggling to hold back tears as he finds it so traumatizing relating this incidence.
We humbly ask for any support or assistance available in trying to rebuild his life from scratch and any help will go a long way in giving him hope and strength to move on amidst his hearing impediment.
Thank you for your time, understanding and compassion.
