China tested a solar-powered drone that can fly for 6 months without landing

In the deserts of Xinjiang, China has begun real-world tests of a high-altitude solar drone that could stay airborne for six months nonstop. Called “Qiming-X50,” the aircraft uses flexible solar panels, featherweight carbon structure, and AI-assisted flight to remain aloft indefinitely.

Flying at 20 kilometers above ground — above weather and air traffic — this drone operates in the stratosphere, acting as a “quasi-satellite.” It can carry sensors, communication relays, surveillance systems, and disaster response tools across wide areas.

The drone’s wingspan is over 50 meters, yet it weighs less than a compact car. Its solar system charges during the day and powers ultra-efficient lithium-air batteries at night. Onboard AI monitors flight corrections, turbulence, and weather anomalies in real time.

With no need for fuel, crew, or frequent maintenance, it could replace some satellites — offering real-time Earth observation, internet relays, and secure military monitoring without a satellite launch.

China plans to deploy a network of these drones across sensitive borders, oceans, and disaster-prone zones — a silent sky net that never lands.

TEARS IN NGBAN: Father, Mother, Son Killed by Suspected Herdsmen Laid to Rest Amid Grief and Outrage

A heavy cloud of sorrow descended on Ngban village in Nyiev Ward of Guma Local Government Area as the bodies of a father, mother, and their young son—victims of brutal attacks by suspected Fulani herdsmen—were laid to rest in a tearful funeral on Saturday.

Citizen Television reports that the tragedy began when the father, Mr. Iorhen, was killed in a previous assault by the assailants. His body, preserved in a local mortuary, had been awaiting burial. However, the family’s mourning turned into fresh horror when his wife, Mrs. Mlumun Iorhen, and their son, Terkimbi, were ambushed and murdered on their farmland just yesterday.

The triple tragedy has reignited anger and fear among residents of Guma LGA, a region that has repeatedly borne the brunt of deadly attacks over the years.

“This is where we are today—life is short, brutal, and nasty,” a grieving community elder told reporters. “Families can no longer go to their farms without the fear of being butchered. Our people are being wiped out.”

Locals and civil society groups say the killings are part of a longstanding pattern of unchecked violence that has displaced thousands and driven farming communities into poverty, hunger, and trauma.

As the coffins were lowered into the ground, cries of anguish filled the air. Many residents called on the government to take urgent action to secure rural areas and end the cycle of bloodshed.

Despite repeated appeals, concrete responses remain limited, leaving communities like Ngban in a state of mourning and uncertainty—unsure who might be next.

Troops Rescue 11 Hostages, Arrest 2, Recover Arms in Major Offensive Across Benue, Taraba

In a decisive operation spanning two states, troops of Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS) have rescued 11 kidnapped victims, arrested two suspects, and recovered a significant cache of arms and ammunition in a major offensive across Benue and Taraba States.

The operation, which took place between August 2 and 3, 2025, was spearheaded by Commander Sector 1, Colonel K.O. Bukoye, with coordinated ground efforts from Sector 3 and vital air support. The mission targeted known criminal hideouts in Tse-Ahur and Chito communities in Ukum Local Government Area of Benue State. Meanwhile, Sector 3 troops stationed in Gindin Mangoro, Wukari Local Government Area of Taraba State, were strategically positioned to intercept fleeing insurgents.

According to Citizen Television Newsroom, troops engaged the bandits in fierce combat, overwhelming them with superior firepower. Two key suspects were captured, while several others fled, abandoning their hostages and weapons. A swift follow-up operation resulted in the successful rescue of 11 captives — four women and seven men — who were given immediate medical attention and are now undergoing profiling for reunification with their families.

Further search operations uncovered a large arms cache. Items recovered include four FN rifles, three G3 rifles, four AK-47 rifles, one PKT machine gun, a locally fabricated Dane gun, 15 AK-47 magazines, three FN rifle magazines, 31 rounds of 7.62mm NATO ammunition, 184 rounds of 7.62mm x 54mm ammunition, a pistol magazine, five smoke canisters, and a number of fe**sh charms believed to be used by the insurgents.

Troops also dismantled the bandits’ entire camp infrastructure, effectively cutting off their logistics and operational base.

Force Commander of OPWS, Major General Moses Gara, who was on ground to oversee the mission, lauded the troops’ courage, tactical coordination, and professionalism.

Troops of Operation Whirl Stroke Neutralise Bandit, Recover Weapons in Benue

Troops of Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS) have neutralised an armed bandit and recovered a cache of weapons during a successful clearance operation in Mararaba Gbagir, Benue State.

The operation, carried out on Tuesday, followed credible intelligence reports indicating the presence of suspected armed elements in the area. According to military sources, the troops encountered the criminals during a fighting patrol and engaged them in a fierce gun battle.

One of the suspects was killed in the exchange, while others reportedly escaped with gunshot wounds.

Items recovered from the scene include six AK-47 magazines, three rounds of 9mm ammunition, two rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, one locally fabricated gun, and one locally made pistol. Troops also destroyed several charms and shrines discovered at the bandits’ hideout.

Force Commander of OPWS, Major General Moses Gara, commended the troops for their professionalism and swift response. He noted that the operation had significantly disrupted criminal activities in the area and contributed to restoring calm.

General Gara urged the personnel to sustain the momentum and reassured the public of the Joint Task Force’s commitment to restoring lasting peace and security in Benue State and across the wider joint operations zone.

He further appealed to residents to support security agencies by providing timely and actionable intelligence that can aid ongoing operations.

The latest success adds to a series of ongoing military efforts aimed at flushing out criminal elements destabilizing communities in the North-Central region.

A Historic Moment in Benue!

Today, history was made in Makurdi as the First Lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, visited Benue State to pay her respects and extend condolences over the painful Yelewata massacre.

But what struck me most was not just her presence...

It was the fearless voice of our royal father, His Royal Highness, The Tor Tiv, who spoke boldly and without fear.

In the presence of dignitaries, he looked the First Lady in the eye and declared:

> “Fulanis are kîllîng us. They come from Nasarawa, destroy our lands, kîll our people, and run back—only to return and attack again.”

No shaking. No fear. Just truth.

And guess what? The Wife of the Nasarawa State Governor was right there, seated in that same hall! I believe she heard every word, loud and clear. Now let her carry that truth back to her husband.

This is leadership from the throne—a king who speaks not for fame but for the survival of his people.
This is the voice of the oppressed finally being echoed at the top.

Fearless king of his people 🙌
Benue is awake. The world is watching.
