A TIV TELEVISION PARTNERSHIP & ADVOCACY CAMPAIGN
Human trafficking remains one of the most painful human rights crises affecting vulnerable women, children, and young people across communities today,
especially in Africa and Nigeria in particular.
It destroys lives, dreams, separates families, fuels exploitation, and weakens the moral fabric of society.
As a passionate advocate against human trafficking, Her Royal Majesty, Prof. Mrs. Felicia Hembadoon Ayatse, Mother of the Tiv Nation worldwide, has continued to champion awareness, prevention, education, and protection for vulnerable persons in Benue State.
Her commitment to giving a voice to victims and educating communities deserves strong institutional and media support.
Tiv Television has proudly partnered with our Mother, Her Royal Majesty, Prof. Mrs. Felicia Hembadoon Ayatse to amplify the campaign against human trafficking.
This is planned through sustained public enlightenment, community engagement, and strategic advocacy — similar to global awareness-driven initiatives championed by international media platforms such as CNN & their Project.
Possible Causes of Human Trafficking:
• Poverty and unemployment
• Lack of education and awareness
• False promises of better opportunities abroad
• Family pressure and social inequality
• Weak law enforcement and corruption
• Conflict, displacement, and insecurity
• Peer influence and social media manipulation
Achievable Solutions:
• Community sensitization and grassroots education.
• Stronger collaboration between media, traditional institutions, government, and civil society organisations.
• Empowerment programs for women and youths
• Stricter enforcement of anti-trafficking laws
• School-based awareness campaigns
• Support systems for survivors and victims
• Encouraging responsible migration and verification of opportunities, etc.
Where Everyone Can Come In:
• Parents should educate and monitor their children.
• Religious and traditional leaders should continue speaking against human trafficking.
• The media should sustain awareness campaigns and expose trafficking networks.
• Government agencies should strengthen protection and prosecution mechanisms.
• Youths should avoid suspicious travel offers and report trafficking activities.
• Civil society organizations should provide rehabilitation and empowerment programs for survivors.
The fight against human trafficking is a collective responsibility. Together, through advocacy, education, and action, we can save lives, preserve dignity, and build safer communities for future generations.
Tiv Television remains committed to using its platform to promote truth, awareness, and social impact in partnership with Her Royal Majesty, Prof. Mrs. Felicia Hembadoon Ayatse and all stakeholders committed to ending human trafficking.
