INEC TO DEPLOY ELECTION READINESS TRACKERS AHEAD OF 2027

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) is set to deploy a real-time election readiness tracker to monitor preparations for the 2027 General Election across Nigeria’s 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.

INEC Chairman, Prof. Joash Amupitan, disclosed this while declaring open a two-day Strategic Operational Workshop for Administrative Secretaries in Lagos.

The Commission says the initiative will provide instant updates on election preparedness as Nigeria’s national voter register approaches the 100 million mark ahead of the 2027 polls.

ACReSAL Begins Additional Financing Pre-Appraisal Mission in Bauchi

The Agro-Climatic Resilience in Semi-Arid Landscapes (ACReSAL) Project has commenced a Hybrid Additional Financing Pre-Appraisal Mission in Bauchi State.

The mission brings together the World Bank, Federal Project Management Unit, Federal and State MDAs, and representatives of the 19 Northern States and the FCT.

Declaring the mission open, Bauchi State Governor, Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, represented by his Deputy, Rt. Hon. Mohammed Auwal Jatau, reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to climate-resilient agriculture, land restoration and counterpart funding.

ACReSAL Task Team Leader, Dr. Joy Iganya Agene, commended Bauchi for its strong performance, while the National Project Coordinator, Abdulhameed Umar, described the state as one of the best-performing states under the project.

The additional financing is expected to support the restoration of over 9,000 hectares of degraded land, strengthen institutions and expand interventions for vulnerable communities.

The mission will review ACReSAL’s performance and identify interventions that can be scaled up under the proposed additional financing window.

‎The Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University Gashua in Yobe State Professor Yaqub Ahmed Geidam, has inspected the ongoing Computer-Based Test CBT examinations for General Studies courses, assuring students of the University's commitment to a smooth and credible examination process.

‎During his visit to the CBT Centre, Professor Geidam inspected the facilities and interacted with students and examination officials to assess the progress of the exercise.

THROWBACK MONDAY | Gombe AGILE Prepares Technical Service Providers

The Gombe State AGILE Project has trained Technical Service Providers (TSPs) ahead of the implementation of school renovation, construction and School Improvement Grant activities.

The training, held at Flourish Hotel, Gombe, brought together officials from the Ministry of Education, SUBEB, TSPs and the SIG Consultant.

Project Coordinator, Dr. Amina Haruna Abdul, stressed the need for professionalism and strict compliance with World Bank guidelines.

Participants were also trained on Environmental Safeguards, Gender-Based Violence (GBV) and Grievance Redress Mechanism (GRM) to promote responsible and successful project implementation.

Nigeria Police Force Highlights INTERPOL Collaboration on International Police Cooperation Day

The Nigeria Police Force has joined police organisations worldwide to mark the United Nations International Day of Police Cooperation, highlighting the importance of international collaboration in tackling transnational crimes.

The Force said cooperation with INTERPOL and other international law enforcement agencies has contributed to the arrest of fugitives, recovery of stolen property, identification of victims and disruption of organised and cyber-enabled crimes.

Among the successes recorded are the arrest and repatriation of Victor Benjamin Fejemirokum, wanted over the abduction and murder of an FRSC officer and her daughter in Ogun State, as well as the arrest of Brazilian national Mark Sunny Okoh, wanted for co***ne trafficking.

The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, reaffirmed the Force’s commitment to strengthening international partnerships, intelligence sharing and coordinated investigations to ensure criminals do not exploit international borders to evade justice.

BAUCHI POLICE ARREST 20-YEAR-OLD OVER ALLEGED DEFILEMENT OF 7-YEAR-OLD GIRL

The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested a 20-year-old man, Isiyaku Usman, for allegedly defiling a seven-year-old girl and stealing two mobile phones in Darazo.

Police said the suspect allegedly lured the girl into an uncompleted building, where he sexually assaulted her before taking the phones.

The suspect was arrested with the stolen phones and taken to Darazo General Hospital alongside the victim for medical examination.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Sani-Omolori Aliyu, direc
ted that the case be transferred to the Gender Laboratory of the State CID for discreet investigation, after which the suspect will be charged to court.

The Police Command urged parents and guardians to remain vigilant over the safety of their children.

Hajiya Sa’adatu Ali Isa, wife of the member representing Billiri-Balanga Federal Constituency, has engaged women from Gelengu, Sua, Talesse, Bangu and Degre communities in Balanga North.

The engagement focused on strengthening ties with women in the area, with Hajiya Sa’adatu urging them to continue supporting her husband and the APC ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Ten women selected from polling units across Balanga North also received cash assistance totaling over ₦7 million.

Responding, Balkisu Musa Baraya appreciated the gesture and pledged the women’s support for the Ali Isa family and the APC, promising to mobilize women across the area for the party’s success in Gombe State.
