OPEN LETTER TO PRESIDENT BOLA AHMED TINUBU

Your Excellency,
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu,
Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Federal Republic of Nigeria.

Sir,

With due respect, I write this open letter out of deep concern and frustration over the recent escalation of security problems in Nigeria, especially the massive abduction of children from their respective schools. This situation has gone beyond normal complaints. It is now a direct attack on our future, our dignity, and our existence as a people.

Just yesterday, the Governor of Gombe State directed all schools to close on or before Friday due to potential security threats. This is not the first state, and sadly it might not be the last. We are gradually returning to the dark days where children cannot go to school, families cannot sleep peacefully, and communities live in fear of the unknown.

Mr. President, if truly the lives of Nigerians matter, then this is the time for decisive action. We have not forgotten how you acted swiftly in Rivers State because of personal political interests. Now that it is our lives, our children, our communities that are at stake, we expect even faster and stronger action.

We are calling on you to immediately declare a State of Emergency in all places currently facing severe security challenges. Let the military take full control, let there be rapid deployment of security personnel, and let the protection of human lives become the number one priority with immediate effect. Nigerians are suffering, and the tension is rising every single day.

Before the situation pushes us to come out on the streets to demand for your resignation, please do the right thing now. The duty you swore to uphold includes protecting every citizen, regardless of tribe, religion, or region. At this point, silence or delay is not an option.

We want to see action. We want to see results. We want to see our children safe again.
Nigeria has endured enough.

Yours sincerely,

🕊️ A Message to Donald J. Trump and the World

By Abubakar Aliyu

You recently claimed there's a “Christian genocide” in Nigeria. But let’s be clear: Nigeria’s crisis is complex. Christians, Muslims, and indigenous communities are all victims of terrorism, banditry, and state failure. To single out one group distorts reality and deepens division.

Let’s talk history.

From Adolf Hi**er to Benjamin Netanyahu, mass killings have been committed by non-Muslim regimes—often in the name of nationalism, not religion.

📌 Adolf Hi**er: Holocaust—6 million Jews murdered.
📌 Joseph Stalin: Great Purge—millions dead.
📌 Mao Zedong: Great Leap Forward—tens of millions starved.
📌 Pol Pot: Khmer Rouge genocide—1.7 million killed.
📌 Slobodan Milošević: Bosnian genocide—ethnic cleansing of Muslims.
📌 George W. Bush: Iraq War—hundreds of thousands of civilians dead.
📌 Benjamin Netanyahu: Gaza—thousands of Palestinians killed, accused of war crimes.

None of these were Muslims. None of these were religious wars. They were political, ideological, and systemic atrocities.

🇳🇬 In Nigeria:
- Boko Haram kills Muslims and Christians alike.
- Bandits attack villages indiscriminately.
- Farmer-herder clashes are about land, not faith.

This is not a Christian genocide. It’s a national tragedy.

📣 Mr. Trump, if you truly care about lives, advocate for peace, justice, and development—not sectarian narratives. History teaches us that mass killings are not tied to one religion. They are tied to unchecked power.

Let’s protect all lives. Let’s speak truth to power.

A Reflection on the Mockery of Omoyele Sowore

I honestly find it disheartening that some Nigerians have chosen to mock Omoyele Sowore for retreating when security forces fired what sounded like live rounds during the protest in Abuja. Many are cynically framing his retreat as an act of cowardice—really? Since when did bravery mean standing unarmed before flying bullets? If he had died, the same people would have called him reckless.

You may disagree with Sowore’s politics, which is perfectly legitimate, but you cannot deny that he has the courage of his convictions. He has consistently risked his comfort, freedom, safety, and even his life to demand a better Nigeria—something most of his critics have never dared to do beyond social media commentary.

It is truly unfortunate and shameful that a man who has endured arrests, harassment, and intimidation in his struggle for justice and good governance is being mocked by the very people he seeks to defend. Sowore has stood up for police pensioners, for students, and even for the same security officers who have assaulted him in uniform. That, to me, speaks volumes about his courage and humanity.

Our problem in Nigeria has always been division—tribalism, regionalism, and religious bias. These are the real enemies of progress. If we could put aside these differences and unite with one voice, as the young people in other nations have done to transform their societies, we would have achieved far more as a country.

What I have learned from today’s protest is simple: focus on your goals, your family, and your immediate responsibilities. Many of those you fight for will mock you in the end, even as you risk everything for their freedom.

Still, history will always remember those who stood up for what was right, even when they stood alone. Sowore is one of such voices—an imperfect man, perhaps, but a necessary one in a democracy that too often silences dissent.

🚨 Enough Is Enough! 🚨

Nigerian Students Deserve Better. Our Future Is Not a Bargaining Chip.

For years, the Nigerian government has made promises to ASUU—promises that were never fulfilled. From unpaid allowances to decaying infrastructure, our universities are being choked by neglect.

Now, after ASUU declared a two-week warning strike to demand what was agreed upon, the Federal Government responded with a “No Work, No Pay” policy. Is this how you treat educators? Is this how you protect the future of a nation?

Let’s not forget: President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu promised during his campaign that there would be no more strikes. Today, that promise is broken. Again.

📢 To every Nigerian youth reading this:
Open your eyes. Shine your light. Speak up.
Our silence is their comfort. Our voice is their accountability.

Education is not a luxury. It is a right.
And we will not be silent while our future is being auctioned off.

From Learning to Lining Up: The Misuse of Public School Children

In a country where over 10 million children remain out of school, and those who are enrolled often face overcrowded classrooms, underpaid teachers, and a lack of basic learning materials, one would expect our leaders to prioritize education reform over ceremonial optics.

Yet, during the recent visit of Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, to Gombe State, public school children were once again paraded to line the streets in welcome—an all-too-familiar scene that raises uncomfortable questions about our values.

While the First Lady’s advocacy for girls’ education and health is commendable, the symbolism of children standing in the sun, waving flags, and chanting rehearsed greetings paints a troubling picture. These are the same children whose schools are underfunded, whose futures are uncertain, and whose basic rights to quality education are routinely compromised.

Gombe State, with nearly 800,000 out-of-school children, is in the midst of an enrolment drive to bring more kids into classrooms. But what message are we sending when those same children are pulled out of learning environments to serve as props for political visits? Is this truly the best use of their time, energy, and dignity?

We must ask ourselves: are we building a nation of thinkers or a nation of spectators? Are we empowering our youth or exploiting them for applause?

Leadership should be measured not by the size of the crowd that greets it, but by the depth of the change it inspires. If we truly care about the future of Nigerian children, let’s invest in their classrooms—not their choreography.
