Nigeria Confirms U.S.–Nigeria Joint Security Operation Against Terrorists

Abuja, December 26, 2025
The Federal Government of Nigeria has officially confirmed that recent airstrikes carried out on terrorist targets in the North-West were the result of ongoing security cooperation and intelligence collaboration between Nigeria and the United States.
In a press release issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the government stated that Nigerian authorities remain actively engaged with international partners, including the United States of America, to address the persistent threat of terrorism and violent extremism across the country.
According to the statement, the collaboration involves structured intelligence sharing, strategic coordination, and other forms of security support, conducted in line with international law and with full respect for Nigeria’s sovereignty. The operation reportedly led to precision airstrikes on identified terrorist locations in the North-West region.
The Ministry emphasized that Nigeria’s counter-terrorism efforts are guided by the protection of civilian lives, national unity, and the dignity of all citizens, irrespective of religion or ethnicity. It noted that terrorist violence against any group remains an affront to Nigeria’s values and global peace.
The Federal Government further assured that it will continue working closely with its partners through established diplomatic and security channels to weaken terrorist networks, disrupt their financing and logistics, and prevent cross-border threats, while also strengthening Nigeria’s own security and intelligence capabilities.

Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, has conveyed heartfelt Christmas goodwill message to Christians across the State, describing the sacred feast of the Nativity as a solemn reminder of selfless love, meekness and devotion to the service of mankind.

In his message through his Special Adviser on Media, Hon. Ismaila Isah, the Governor reflected on the spiritual depth of the season, noting that the birth of Jesus Christ calls believers to walk in patience, forbearance goodwill and virtues that strengthen harmony and communal living.

Hon. Leke Abejide Launches “Operation No Mercy for Terrorists” in Yagba Federal Constituency
Yagba, Kogi State — In a decisive move to strengthen security across Yagba land, the Member representing Yagba East, Yagba West and Mopamuro Federal Constituency, Rt. Hon. Leke Abejide, has officially launched “Operation No Mercy for Terrorists”, a special security initiative aimed at flushing out criminal elements in the area.
As part of the operation, Hon. Abejide commissioned 30 operational motorcycles and three (3) fully equipped security vans to support security patrols and rapid response across Yagba East, Yagba West and Mopamuro Local Government Areas.
The lawmaker also unveiled a special security task force known as the Lion Squad, which will spearhead the implementation of Operation No Mercy for Terrorists. The squad is mandated to work closely with existing security agencies to combat kidnapping, armed robbery and other forms of criminal activities threatening peace in Yagba communities.

INTER-SERVICE TENSION IN KWARA: Army Personnel Arrested Over Assault on Police Officers
Ilorin, Kwara State | December 24, 2025
Tension has flared between security agencies in Kwara State following the arrest of three serving Nigerian Army personnel and one civilian over the alleged brutal assault on police officers along the Shao–Malete Expressway in Moro Local Government Area.
The incident, which occurred at about 5:45 p.m. on Tuesday, December 23, 2025, was confirmed in an internal police situation report from Shao Division, obtained by Okun Media Hub.
According to the report, police officers on routine patrol intercepted two motorcycles along the expressway when the situation unexpectedly degenerated into violence. Three men riding one of the motorcycles reportedly disembarked and aggressively confronted the officers, claiming to be serving personnel of the Nigerian Army.
What began as a routine security check quickly escalated as the suspects allegedly attempted to disarm the police officers and physically assaulted them. During the confrontation, Police Constable AbdulGaniyu Abdullateef sustained varying degrees of injuries while performing his lawful duties.
Efforts by the patrol team to secure reinforcement from the Divisional Headquarters were ongoing when the suspects reportedly fled the scene on foot. However, the police succeeded in arresting the motorcycle rider at the scene.
The arrested rider was identified as Saka Suleiman, a male resident of Shao. During interrogation, he allegedly revealed the identity of one of the fleeing suspects as Saka Jamiu, also from Shao and a serving soldier.
In a swift overnight operation, police operatives tracked and arrested the remaining suspects at about 1:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 24, 2025. Those arrested include Atunwa Adekunle Ishola Awolola and Saka Jamiu, all confirmed to be personnel of the Nigerian Army.
A dagger knife was recovered from the suspects and taken into custody as an exhibit. The suspects are currently being processed for transfer to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Ilorin, for further discreet investigation.
The incident has reignited concerns over recurring friction between the Nigerian Police Force and the military, particularly during routine security operations. Analysts warn that such clashes pose serious risks to public trust, operational coordination, and overall national security.
Kwara State has witnessed heightened security operations in recent weeks due to rising cases of kidnapping, banditry, and highway robbery. While collaboration between security agencies remains critical, incidents of this nature threaten operational harmony and professionalism.
Although no fatalities were recorded, legal experts note that the alleged offences may attract serious legal and military consequences, including assault on public officers, unlawful possession of weapons, and disciplinary action under military law.

Christmas: Hon. Leke Abejide Flags Off ₦1bn Food Distribution to Widows, Constituents.

The Member representing Yagba East, Yagba West and Mopamuro Federal Constituency at the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Leke Abejide, has flagged off the distribution of food items and relief materials valued at ₦1 billion to widows and constituents across the constituency as part of activities to mark the Christmas and New Year celebrations.
Speaking at the flag-off ceremony, Hon. Abejide described the initiative as a yearly tradition, noting that the gesture has been sustained for about nine years to support widows and ensure that constituents have food to celebrate the festive season.
According to him, the distribution will cut across all 34 wards and polling units in Yagba Federal Constituency.
He disclosed that items earmarked for this year’s distribution include 24,000 bags of 5kg rice, 10,000 packs of 2kg garri, 10,000 six-yard wrappers for widows, as well as salt, sugar and noodles.
Hon. Abejide said the initiative is driven by his passion for philanthropy and commitment to showing love and care to widows and the less privileged, in line with moral and religious teachings.
The lawmaker also announced a review of his earlier commitment to support autonomous communities across the constituency. He revealed that each of the 71 autonomous communities will receive ₦10 million for community development projects, amounting to a total of ₦710 million, to be fully implemented by 2026.
He officially flagged off the exercise and urged those handling the distribution to ensure the items reach deserving widows and constituents across all wards and polling units.

Ekinrin-Adde Commissions New Monarchs’ Palaces, Celebrates Unity and Development

Ekinrin-Adde, Kogi State. The Ekinrin-Adde community in Ijumu Local Government Area of Kogi State recently witnessed a historic and colourful ceremony with the commissioning of newly constructed palaces for two revered traditional rulers the Akinrin of Ekinrin and the Olu-Adde of Ekinrin-Adde.
The event, which attracted traditional leaders, political office holders and community stakeholders, marked a major step in strengthening traditional institutions and promoting unity and development within the community.
Among dignitaries present were the Chairman of Ijumu Local Government Area, Hon. Ibrahim Haruna, and the Vice Chairman, Hon. Muyiwa Ayedogbo. The palace projects were facilitated by Hon. James Abiodun Faleke, a member of the House of Representatives and a prominent indigene of Ekinrin-Adde.
Speaking during the commissioning, His Royal Majesty, Oba Johnson Kolade Otitoju Egbo Iona I, the Akinrin of Ekinrin, expressed appreciation to God, Hon. Faleke, sons and daughters of Ekinrin-Adde, spiritual leaders and the Ekinrin-Adde Traditional Council for their collective support. He prayed for sustained peace, security and progress in Ekinrin-Adde, Ijumu Local Government Area, Kogi State and Nigeria at large.
Community members described the palaces as symbols of cultural heritage, unity and progress, noting that the projects would further strengthen traditional leadership and community development.

BREAKING: Ojulari Regains Freedom After Kidnap Ordeal

Ojulari has regained his freedom after being held captive by armed band!ts, family sources have confirmed.

According to a close family source, Ojulari was abducted on 7 December 2025 by suspected armed bandits along the Odo-Ogbe axis in Yagba East Local Government Area of Kogi State.

The incident occurred during an attack in which four travellers were reportedly abducted along the route.

Details surrounding his release remain unclear as of the time of filing this report.

Residents of the area continue to express concern over the rising cases of abduction and insecurity along major routes in Yagba East.
