Pastor Ifeoluwa Akindayomi, the youngest son of the founder of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), the late Pa Josiah Akindayomi, has died at the age of 61.

He passed away on Sunday, November 2, about 45 years after the death of his father and barely seven months after the passing of his elder brother, Pastor Kolade Akindayomi, who died on May 4 this year.

His sudden death came as a shock to family, friends, and members of the church community. A close family friend who spoke to Church Times described his passing as “too sudden and unexpected.”

“Nobody would have thought he would die barely 24 hours after he served as chairman at a wedding ceremony,” the source said. “He was very okay and had no sign of any illness. For him to have chaired a wedding the day before showed he was fine. But the unexpected happened.”

The source explained that the late pastor had gone for his usual prayer walk on Sunday morning and returned to his residence at the RCCG Camp. While preparing for Sunday service, he reportedly missed his steps, fell headlong, and hit his head on a sharp object. The impact left him unconscious, and before help could reach him, he had passed away.

Until his death, Pastor Ifeoluwa served as the Assistant Provincial Pastor of Ogun Province 5 of the RCCG. He was also an entrepreneur who ran a thriving printing press.

Family sources disclosed that his wife and children live in Canada, where they had long urged him to relocate. He had finally decided to join them and had secured permanent residency before his death.

His longtime friend and fellow pastor, Debo Akinyemi, described him as “a quiet, humble man who never sought attention despite his background.”
