LIFE THROUGH A DIFFERENT LENS: THE FRAGILITY OF LIFE AND WHAT TRULY MATTERS IN THE END.

Ikeoye Oyetoro ✍️

The events of recent days have reminded me once again that life is fragile, unpredictable, and far too precious to be taken for granted. In a world where we spend so much time chasing tomorrow, we often forget to truly live today. These are few reflections that have been on my mind.

Love wholeheartedly because it is one of the greatest feelings in the world. Forgive quickly, get angry when you need to but don't remain there—cool off because peace of mind is priceless.

Enjoy life and do what genuinely makes you happy. Your happiness refreshes both your mind and your soul. Help others and make a positive impact wherever you can, because your kindness and your impacts will continue to speak long after your departure.

Take good care of your parents. They are your first earthly blessings and their prayers, love and sacrifices have the power to influence your journey in ways you may never fully understand.

If you're going through a difficult time, speak up. Some people may laugh at you or misunderstand you, but you may also find those rare souls who truly care and are willing to help. Never suffer in silence.

Please yourself sometimes too. Live your life with purpose, cherish every moment and don't postpone joy, because tomorrow is never guaranteed.

The recent happenings around us have truly changed my perspective on life. They have made me lose interest in desperately pursuing wealth, children, status, or any of the many things we naturally desire as human beings. Those things are beautiful blessings, but I no longer want to chase them at the expense of my peace, joy, or relationship with God. The Bible says, "The fool stores up riches, not knowing who will eventually enjoy them." That truth has continued to resonate deeply with me.

These days, I simply want to live with peace, love wholeheartedly, enjoy my life as though tomorrow may never come, fulfil my God-given purpose to the best of my ability, cherish and appreciate the people around me, take each day one step at a time, and trust God with the rest. I have come to realize that a person's worth is not measured by their achievements or the milestones society expects them to have reached. There are blessings that money cannot buy—God's mercy, His grace, peace of mind, genuine love, good health, meaningful relationships, and the lives we are privileged to touch. Those are treasures too.

The cycle of life and mortality is a reality that will continue as long as the world exists. Every day, new lives begin while others come to an end. We all pray for long life, good health, and God's protection, but ultimately, God is the Producer, the Director, and the Scriptwriter of our lives. His will alone prevails.

My prayer is that God will protect us, guide us, bless the works of our hands, grant us long life in good health, and when our time eventually comes, may we leave behind beautiful memories, lasting impacts, and lives that were truly worth living.

And when my time eventually comes, I desire only one thing above every earthly achievement—to make heaven. For at the end of it all, our relationship with God is the only treasure that truly lasts.

Amen.

The signs are there… warning you.
