Phonics is the method of teaching people how to read by identifying the sounds that letters represent. With Jolly Phonics, children are able to identify letter sounds through the use of phonics songs, stories, and exciting actions to ‘decode’ the English language. When they are able to master the concept, it gives them the confidence to read and write fluently in English.

Jolly Phonics is a fun and child centred approach to teaching literacy through synthetic phonics. With actions for each of the 42 letter sounds, the multi-sensory method is very motivating for children. The letter sounds are split into seven groups, as shown in the Letter Sound Order chart below.
