Green and White Dreams 🟩 ⬜ 🟩
Sixty-four candles on a tattered flag,
A nation's birthday, both triumph and drag.
From colonial chains to sovereign might,
Yet shadows linger in freedom's light.
Streets echo with hunger's refrain,
While mansions rise from corruption's gain.
In market squares and marble halls,
Extortion's whisper through justice calls.
The eagle soars, but with clipped wings,
As insecurity its terror brings.
Brave souls crushed by injustice's weight,
As bribery twists the hand of fate.
But hark! A rhythm rises, strong and clear,
A people's spirit that knows no fear.
From Lagos shores to Sambisa's trees,
Hope blooms like harmattan's breeze.
Oh Nigeria, land of green and white,
Your children yearn for dawning light.
We pray for leaders just and wise,
Who'll lift the nation to new highs.
For prosperity shared by one and all,
A giant rising, standing tall.
Let unity be your guiding star,
Healing wounds both near and far.
Sixty-four years, a journey long,
Yet the best verses of your song
Are yet unsung, yet to unfold.
So raise your voice, oh countrymen,
Let freedom's chorus ring again,
To paint new colors in Nigerian skies.
