EFCC Declares Fugitive Over N976.6 Million Fuel Subsidy Scam
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has declared a suspect wanted in connection with a N976,653,110.28 fuel subsidy fraud.
According to a statement signed by the Head of Media and Publicity, Dele Oyewale, the fugitive, Ogunbambo, was being prosecuted alongside co-defendants Mamman Ali and Christian Taylor. Both Ali and Taylor were convicted and sentenced to 14 years imprisonment each by the court on Tuesday, May 27, 2025, for their roles in the fraudulent scheme.
The EFCC revealed that Ogunbambo absconded after being granted bail and has repeatedly failed to appear in court to face trial. The Commission warned members of the public against providing him shelter or assistance, emphasizing that harboring a fugitive is a criminal offense.
The subsidy scam, according to the EFCC, involved the fraudulent claim of N976.6 million as payment for petroleum products that were never supplied.
