THE GIRL GOD CARRIED: A BIRTHDAY STORY OF GRACE AND RESTORATION.
Today, I celebrate not just a date — but a journey God carried me through.
I was born on the 8th of May, but life pushed me into celebrating the 10th of December for many years. Losing my mother when I was barely eight changed everything. I grew up between my grandma and my loving aunty who later took full responsibility for me — from primary school to higher institution.
When it was time for my UTME registration, a simple mistake changed my date of birth from 10th of May to 10th of December. I complained, but there was nothing they could do. I didn’t even have my original birth certificate then. So, December 10 became my “official” birthday and I embraced it.
Years passed until one day, my younger brother visited my father and discovered all our documents, including my real birth certificate. That was when I finally saw my true date of birth.
Today, the 10th of December, I’m celebrating it one last time — not with sadness, but with gratitude. Because by next year, I will celebrate my real birthday again in May.
But this morning, the enemy tried to spoil my joy.
Thieves broke into the compound where my husband parks his motorcycle and stole it. It was only by the mercy of God that we found it hidden in a bush where they planned to come back for it. God exposed them. They ran. The bike was recovered. Glory be to God.
This same husband had a car before, but life happened. He is managing the bike now, yet the enemy wanted to reduce him to nothing. But God defeated their plans.
This is not even the first time. On the 10th of July, our house was burgled and everything we had was taken. We are still rebuilding, little by little. We are not rich — we are just hustling. But trouble keeps coming like we’re the only ones in the area.
There is a Yoruba adage:
“Bi ikú ilé ò p’ani, ti òde ò lè p’ani.”
Meaning: If the danger inside doesn’t kill a person, the one outside cannot.
Truly, someone close is informing the thieves. But I hand them all over to God.
Today, on this December 10, I raise a prayer:
May God turn my husband’s motorcycle into a good car in this coming new year.
May God put all our enemies and informants to shame.
May 2026 bring us favour we didn’t expect.
May God rewrite our story with breakthroughs that will shock even our enemies.
May our home rise again — stronger, better, blessed.
And as for me, Come May, I will celebrate my real birthday with joy, peace, and restoration.
This is my testimony.
This is my journey.
This is my victory in God.
Aliamdullilah for everything ❤️❤️❤️.
