Fighters of the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) Friday night ambushed a Nigerian military convoy in Borno State, abducting a serving general and killing several soldiers including members of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), HumAngle is reporting.

The general reportedly kidnapped is a brigade commander and was said to be leading the troops.

If confirmed, the news platform, which specifically focuses on conflict and humanitarian crises, says “this would be the first recorded instance of any extremist group in Nigeria capturing a serving General directly from the frontline.”

Although insurgents have killed high ranking military officers as recently seen here, and here, news about abduction of such officers are rare.

Military authorities have not yet issued a statement on the incident, and details of casualty figures remain unclear.

The spokesperson for the Nigerian Army, Onyechi Anele, a lieutenant colonel, has not responded to an enquiry sent to her about the matter.

It was gathered that the appeal court in its judgment, held that the evidence tendered was insufficient to sustain the earlier conviction, leading to Baba Ijesha’s release

He took the matter to matter to the appeal court.

When a particular judge makes a judgement you are not satisfied with, you don't need to fight the judge cos they have what we call JUDICIAL IMMUNITY

You can not SUE them for discharging their duties even if the judgement is wrong

The option available to you is to head to the appeal court and point out one or two errors the former judge made and why you think the former judge made a wrong judgement

That's the basic reason why the Appeal Court was created

The law is fair to everyone and has created opportunity to upturn wrong judgement

Ignorance of the law is no excuse

Trump Reacts to Nigerians’ Sense of Humor Amid Global Tensions

U.S. President Donald Trump has described Nigerians as “a great people” who “turn everything into a comedy show,” even in the face of serious global issues.

Speaking earlier today during a meeting with Nigerian delegates in the U.S., Trump reportedly said:

“Nigeria is the only country where they hear about War and start making jokes! Unbelievable. Great people, but they don’t take anything seriously — everything’s a comedy show.”

The president expressed surprise at how Nigerians often respond to global cr!ses with humor rather than panic or fear.

“I’ve never seen anything like it. Other countries pan!c — Nigeria makes jokes. It’s funny, but also crazy,” Trump added with a laugh.
