🚨 TRAGEDY IN SOKOTO: OVER 50 PEOPLE REPORTED LOST THEIR LIVES
This is truly heartbreaking. Reports coming from Gorau community in Goronyo Local Government Area of Sokoto State say that at least 52 people have lost their lives after an overloaded boat capsized.
The boat was reportedly carrying more than 70 people, including farmers, labourers, and children who were heading to rice farms when the tragedy happened.
Some survivors have been rescued, while search-and-rescue efforts are still ongoing for those who remain missing.
Beyond the heartbreaking loss of lives, this tragedy also reminds us of the dangers of overcrowded boats, poor safety measures, and the lack of life jackets on our waterways. No family should have to experience this kind of pain.
