Someone recently dropped a heavy comment on a post, trying to explain why some people simply cannot win.
She said it is incredibly hard for someone who stopped school at O-Level fourteen years ago to learn anything new today, because she feel like her brain can no longer comprehend modern teachings.
It sounds like a valid reason to stay stuck, but let us be entirely honest with ourselves, it is still just an excuse.
The truth is that no one on this earth can limit you until you consciously decide to limit yourself.
I then responded with a brilliant story that perfectly proves my point.
When i was entering senior secondary school, I had the mindset to go to science class to become a doctor, which is the typical childhood dream.
Literally I was just an average student, but I possessed a critical mentality: if I can read, I can pass.
After secondary school, I discovered a genuine joy in anything involving laptops and computers.
I dumped the doctor dream, studied computer science, and finished in the top six with a Distinction during their National Diploma days.
Today, I have built massive digital skills that at least pays my bills, and while I'm still striving for the next level, though I am not where I want to be, but I am not where I started either.
Your past is not an anchor, it is just a reference point.
God gave every single one of us unique talents and incredible abilities, and those mental faculties do not expire just because you have been out of a classroom for a decade.
Challenges are clustered all around us every day, but our job is to keep challenging those obstacles until we win.
If you set your mind to achieve something, you will achieve it, provided you do not use your own hands to pull yourself down to the ground.
You have to be your own biggest cheerleader and decide that you are ready to learn, adapt, and grow regardless of how long you have been away from the game.
