Oyo Residents Question Oyo APC Guber Candidate Sharafadeen Alli's Record as Ogun's Guber Candidate Yayi Rolls Out Second Multibillion-Naira Empowerment
_"In 3 years as Senator, he has not given out even a single bicycle,"say frustrated Oyo constituents
As the race to 2027 gathers momentum, a sharp contrast is emerging within the APC in the Southwest.
While Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, FCA , APC Governorship Candidate for Ogun State, just concluded his second major multibillion-naira empowerment for Ogun West constituents, his counterpart in Oyo State, Senator Sharafadeen Abiodun ALLI ,representing oyo south senatorial district, is facing mounting criticism over his 3-year record in the Senate.
The Ogun event, held earlier this week, featured business grants, tools, vehicles, and farming tools support for thousands of beneficiaries. Party leaders and beneficiaries across party lines described it as further proof of Senator Yayi's consistent record of grassroots engagement since his days in the National Assembly.
In oyo state, particularly in Ibadan, and across the Ibarapa, residents and civil society groups are openly asking: What has Senator Sharafadeen Abiodun Alli done with constituency resources since 2023? The dominant sentiment on the ground is one of disappointment. Critics point to the absence of visible, large-scale projects and direct empowerment initiatives.
"In 3 years, we have not seen an ordinary bicycle, let alone a grant or vehicle from our Senator, How do we then trust the same person with the entire Oyo State treasury?" Chief Kalejaye Awoyemi a resident in Ibadan lamented
A community leader who spoke on condition of anonymity put it more bluntly: "Representation is about impact you can see and feel. If a Senator cannot account for 3 years, asking him to govern Oyo State is asking voters to gamble with their future."
Other residents echoed the call for accountability, transparency, and a clear scorecard of deliverables before 2027. They insist that anyone seeking to govern Oyo must first prove a record of people-oriented service and responsible management of public resources.
This growing contrast has now become a major talking point within the APC. While Senator Yayi's empowerment is being used to rally grassroots support in Ogun, the conversation in Oyo is shifting toward demands for performance, visibility, and trust.
As of press time, Senator Alli's campaign office has not issued an official response to the concerns raised by constituents.
With the 2027 election cycle fast approaching, the APC leadership in Oyo State is expected to address questions of cohesion, credibility, and candidate evaluation -because the people of Oyo are watching, and they are demanding results.
