💜🌸 “YOU ARE MORE THAN YOUR ENVIRONMENT”
Good morning everyone.
Today, we are celebrating International Women’s Day a day that reminds us that being a girl is not a weakness. It is strength. It is power. It is purpose.
I am not here today just to share sanitary pads.
I am here to share a message. And that message is simple:
You are more than your environment.
Some of you come from homes that are not peaceful.
Some of you live in communities where wrong things look normal.
Some of you see behaviors around you that make it seem like there is no difference between right and wrong anymore.
But listen to me carefully.
Where you are growing is not who you are becoming.
Your environment may influence you, but it does not control you.
A seed planted in dry ground can still grow.
A flower can bloom in a dirty place.
A diamond is formed under pressure.
So if your surroundings are rough, it does not mean your future must be rough.
You are more than what you see around you.
You are more than the behavior you observe daily. You are more than the reputation of your school. You are more than the mistakes of others. And you are definitely more than your own past mistakes.
Sometimes, when everyone around you is doing something wrong, it starts to look normal.
When disrespect becomes common, it looks normal. When risky behavior becomes popular, it looks normal. When carelessness becomes funny, it looks normal.
But common is not always correct. Popular is not always powerful. Just because many people are doing something does not mean it is wise.
Real strength is not following the crowd. Real strength is having the courage to stand apart.
As a girl, you have power.
You have the power to say no.
You have the power to walk away.
You have the power to choose your friends wisely.
You have the power to protect your body.
You have the power to protect your future.
Never let anyone make you feel small.
Never let anyone convince you that your value is cheap.
Your body is not for validation.
Your body is not for experimentation.
Your body is not for survival.
Your body is not for attention.
Your body is precious.
That is why today we are sharing these pads.
This pad represents dignity.
When you are on your period, you protect yourself.
You stay clean.
You take care of your hygiene.
You are intentional about your body.
In the same way, you must protect your life decisions.
Just as you would not expose yourself carelessly during your period, do not expose your future carelessly through wrong choices.
Every decision you make today is shaping the woman you will become tomorrow.
On this International Women’s Day, I want you to remember three things:
First: I am valuable.
Second: I can say no.
Third: My future matters.
Say it in your heart:
I am valuable.
I can say no.
My future matters.
Never forget this:
Your street does not define you.
Your school does not define you.
Your friends do not define you.
Your past does not define you.
You define yourself.
And as you receive this pad today, remember:
Dignity every month.
Strong decisions every day.
You are more than your environment.
