OMO-OGUN, IDENTIFY YOUR KING!

***"Southern Governors to Collaborate with Traditional Rulers to Promote Development-Abiodun***

Ogun State Governor,Prince Dapo Abiodun has said governors from southern Nigeria are ready to work with their traditional rulers to foster peace, unity, and engender development in the region.

Governor Abiodun made the declaration on Tuesday when he received members of the Technical Committee of the Southern Nigeria Traditional Rulers Council, who paid him a courtesy call in his office at Oke-Mosan Abeokuta.

He said that as custodians of the rich cultural heritage of the region, the traditional rulers serve as a powerful reminder of the enduring significance of tradition, lauding them for playing a vital role in shaping society through ongoing efforts in promoting peace, preserving our cultural heritage, and fostering collaboration among the Southern States of Nigeria.

He said: "As Chairman of the Southern Governors' Forum and as an administration, I would like to emphasize on behalf of my colleagues that we are committed to fostering an environment where this strong partnership with the Southern Nigeria Traditional Rulers Council can thrive, where your voices are heard, and where your counsel is considered in the formulation and ex*****on of government policies.

"Your influence extends far beyond ceremonial duties; you are the bridge between the people and the government, the closest to the grassroots, the voice of wisdom, and the defenders of our shared values.

"In times of peace and in moments of challenge, you remain the pillars of stability, unity, and progress for our communities. All our southern states in Ogun State, with our deep history of tradition and culture, understand the importance of integrating these values into governance."

Abiodun described the southern states as the economic nerve center of the nation. However, he noted the numerous challenges facing the zone, arising from security concerns, infrastructure, out-of-school children, economic development, youth unemployment, and social cohesion, among others.

"These issues require a united approach where government policies are informed by the insights and experiences of those at the grassroots level—insights that you, our royal fathers, are uniquely positioned to provide.

"Your role in conflict resolution and peace-building is invaluable, and the trust and respect you command among the people make you essential partners in ensuring the security and stability of our communities.

"As we continue to face threats to peace, including insecurity and communal clashes, your collaboration with law enforcement and government remains crucial. Moreover, traditional rulers are not just custodians of culture but also stewards of our environment and future. The preservation of our lands, the protection of our natural resources, and the promotion of sustainable development are areas where we must work together," Governor Abiodun stressed.

He appreciated President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the bold steps taken to reposition the nation's economy, adding that the ongoing construction of the Lagos-Calabar Coastline road would enhance development in the region.

Speaking earlier, the Co-Chairman, King Jaja of Opobo, Dr. Dandeson Douglas Jaja, said the aim of the Southern Nigeria Traditional Rulers Council was to foster unity among the people of southern Nigeria as well as work for the betterment of the whole nation.

Dr. Jaja, who underscored the need for understanding among traditional rulers and governors from the southern region to further engender peace and development, called for synergy to promote the culture and traditions of the area as well as a united voice on national issues.

He said: "There is a need for understanding among the traditional rulers and governors of southern Nigeria for peace and development in the region.

"The aim of this council is in furtherance of the unity of Nigeria and for a better understanding of our traditional institutions in southern Nigeria. We are here, first because you are the chairman of the Southern Governors' Forum, and we cannot visit any other governor in southern Nigeria without calling on you as the chairman.

"The council has been inaugurated to work for the interest of Nigeria and for the understanding of the cultural diversity of the region. We hope that the Southern Nigeria Traditional Rulers Council will work out synergy to promote the culture and traditions and have a united voice on national issues," King Jaja submitted.

He lauded the state government for giving the state a facelift, noting that the state has grown in leaps and bounds in the last five years.

The Chairman of the Ogun State Council of Obas and Olu of Ilaro, Oba Kehinde Olugbenle, said the Southern natural rulers were in the state to brainstorm on issues concerning the development of the region and to find solutions to the myriad of challenges confronting the area.

Other members of the Technical Committee that visited the governor are: the Olowu of Owu, Oba Saka Matemilola; the Olofin of Isheri, Oba Suleiman Bamgbade; the Elegusi of Ikate, Oba Saheed Ademola Elegusi; Alara of Ilara, Oba Olufolarin Ogunsanwo; Oniru of Iluland, Oba Abdulwasiu Lawal; and the Elemuren of Emuren, Oba Adesegun Alowonle.

Speaking in an interview, another Co-Chairman of the Council and Chairman of the South East Traditional Rulers Council, the Obi of Obinugwa, Eze Cletus Ilomuanya, said the Council is in the state to touch and discuss issues affecting the region, especially on economic cooperation, relationships, and security.

Ogun assembly passes power sector bill

The Ogun State House of Assembly on Thursday passed the bill seeking to improve electricity generation, transmission and distribution within the state.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the bill also seeks to establish an electricity market and key power sector bodies, as well as enforce consumer rights and obligations.

Bolanle Ajayi (APC-Yewa South), the Deputy Speaker, presented the report of the Committee of the Whole during plenary in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital.

Mrs Ajayi moved the motion for the adoption of the report, which was seconded by the Minority Leader, Lukman Adeleye (PDP -Odogbolu).

Yusuf Serif (APC-Ado Odo Ota 1), the Majority Leader, moved the motion for the third reading of the bill and it was seconded by Mr Adeleye.

NAN reports that the lawmakers had during the second reading of the bill on 28 August
took turns to debate the desirability of the bill .

Some of them however thanked the federal and state governments, as well as the National Assembly for moving the issue of electricity from the Exclusive Legislative List to the Concurrent Legislative List.

They noted that it allowed states to generate, transmit and distribute electricity within their jurisdiction.

The legislators explained that the initiative would assist in promoting healthy competition among electricity operators, create enabling environment for industries and boost business investment.

Food security: Ogun govt plans price control, bans market levies

GOVERNOR Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State, yesterday, said plans are underway by his administration to introduce a price control mechanism in the state.

Governor Abiodun also declared that all forms of market levies have been suspended, noting that only development and environmental levies will be allowed, as they are meant for the development of markets in the state.

I Can't give up because I have a mother and two brothers — Blind 23-Yr-Old Fabiyi...0:05 / 1:00

The governor disclosed these during a meeting with market leaders led by the Iyaloja General, Mrs Yemisi Abass, at the Governor’s Office, Oke-Mosan in Abeokuta.

He said as part of measures to control the uptick in the prices of food items, the state government will soon commence the operation of its Bulk Purchasing Company, which has now been rebranded as Gateway Trading Company, to ensure that the cost of food items is much more affordable for the people.

His words: “We’ve also resolved that we will begin the implementation of Bulk Purchase and Selling in the state. To that extent, the state government has rebranded our Bulk Purchase Company. It is now called Gateway Trading Board.

“Gateway Trading will now assist in bringing food items to our teeming public at prices that will be significantly below what they can obtain when they go to the market themselves.

“So, we are going to aggressively implement our Gateway Trading objectives. They will first start in the four zones; they will buy in bulk and resell at prices that will be more affordable to our people.”

Governor Abiodun also announced the ban on all forms of levies in the markets in the state.

He said: “A few things have been identified by way of illegal taxes that are being imposed right there in the market; loading taxes, discharge taxes, offloading taxes, and illegal levies in the name of different people. From now on, we are banning such illegal levies in any market in Ogun State.

“The only levies that will be allowed are what they call the Development Levy and the Environmental Levy. Those are levies that are associated with the upkeep of the market, and even those will have to be agreed upon and made public.”

“We also identified that there are people who add no value to food items coming from the farm to markets. They either, by coercion or intimidation, accost farmers and force them to sell at inflated prices.”

In her remarks, Mrs Abass commended Governor Abiodun for deeming it fit to call market leaders together to deliberate on how to make life more bearable for the people of the state.

Senator Yayi: The Man And His Ambition

Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, popularly known as Yayi, has been a notable figure in Nigeria’s political landscape for some time, and he is now fervently pursuing a higher political office as the 2027 general elections approach. As the countdown intensifies, many politicians are struggling to contain their aspirations, with Yayi being one of the most ambitious among them. His ambitions appear to extend beyond mere politics, hinting at a potential breakthrough that could illuminate his path amidst uncertainty.

Having spent years navigating the intricate corridors of the National Assembly, Yayi is well-versed in the nuances and costs associated with political ambition. His journey began in 2003 when he represented Alimosho State Constituency 2 in the Lagos State House of Assembly until 2011. He then transitioned to the Federal House of Representatives and subsequently won a Senate seat representing Lagos West in 2015. His re-election in 2019 further underscores his adeptness at maneuvering through Nigeria’s political landscape.

Now, Senator Adeola from Ogun West, has set his sights on the Ogun State governorship. However, achieving this goal hinges on securing support from influential former governors of Ogun State, including Ibikunle Amosun, Gbenga Daniel, and Olusegun Osoba. While Amosun wields considerable influence, his own political ambitions and historical rivalries may complicate potential backing for Yayi. Daniel’s recent alignment with the APC and emphasis on national unity could resonate with Adeola’s objectives, yet their intertwined political histories might pose challenges.

Meanwhile, Osoba, a seasoned politician and Yayi’s mentor could play a crucial role in his quest for support, although he may prioritise his son, Olumide, for the position. As Adeola navigates this intricate web of alliances and rivalries, he faces a daunting task in rallying the necessary backing for his gubernatorial aspirations. Analysts suggest that while Yayi’s ambitions are clear, realising them may prove to be an uphill battle given the complex dynamics at play.

Ogun LG Election 2024: No Battle Between Gov Abiodun & Senator Yayi

The attention of Senator Solomon Adeola (APC, Ogun West) has been drawn to a story in an online blog, Platform Times, with the title “LG Election 2024: Battle Intensifies As Senator Yayi’s Faction Challenges Abiodun’s Influence in Ogun APC” that is being circulated on some social media platforms.

According to Chief Kayode Odunaro,
Media Adviser to Senator Adeola CON, ordinarily, this speculative story without any attribution to any known contestants and other protagonists on the subject matter would have required no response and taken as part of the fallouts of the competitive struggle by aspirants seeking advantageous position to fly the flag of the winning All Progressives Congress, APC.

However, the Senator is compelled to put the record straight following his discovery of a renewed sinister plot to unjustifiably and falsely pitch him against the leader of APC in Ogun State in the person of the governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun in recent times.

He said, “For the avoidance of doubt, Senator Adeola restates his unadulterated commitment and loyalty to the leadership of Prince Abiodun in Ogun State APC and his administration of the state, a commitment that dates back to pre-2023 election when some of the conspirators of today were fiercely opposed to the governor’s leadership in the state and did all in their power to cause a rift between the Governor and the Senator”.

“On the issue of upcoming Local Government election that is now being speculatively used to drive a wedge between the governor and the senator, it is on record that the Senator have not made any statement or taken any position contrary to that of the governor or the stipulations of the party. Indeed, since the commencement of the process, the senator has been away from the shores of Nigeria on vacation and upon return will support the candidates of the party to a resounding victory in the poll.”

“Expectedly, some aspirants in the upcoming LG elections under APC will drop names and attempt to leverage on the influence and popularity of the governor and senator for their personal advantages in the race they know APC is poised to win. Clearly such positionings while acceptable in a competitive internal party contest, is not the making of the governor or the senator and should not be speculatively used to signpost ‘battle’ or ‘rift’ between the governor and senator on party matter.”

“On the issue of the governorship ticket in 2027 in APC, which the writer believes is driving the alleged and imagined battle, there is no record as at the time of writing of the governor stating any preference for any aspirants and equally the senator has not declared any intention for the position. The senator’s focus at this time is to effectively deliver on his mandate for the people of Ogun West in compliment to the governor’s outstanding delivery for the APC administration in the state.”

“Again, we assure all those plotting or imagining battles and rifts, using all manner of gimmicks, between the governor and the senator, of failure in the days ahead as they failed pre-2023 elections.”

LG Election 2024: Battle Intensifies As Senator Yayi’s Faction Challenges Abiodun’s Influence In Ogun APC

The build-up to the 2024 Local Government Election in Ogun State has ignited a fierce power tussle within the All Progressives Congress (APC), pitting two political heavyweights against each other.

Governor Dapo Abiodun and the Senatorrepresenting Ogun West, Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, popularly known as Yayi, are at the center of a growing rivalry that threatens to reshape the party’s dynamics in the state.

The struggle for control is heating up as Senator Yayi’s faction seeks to undermine Governor Abiodun’s grip on the APC’s structure, particularly in the selection of candidates for the upcoming local government elections.

Traditionally, Governor Abiodun has held sway over party affairs in Ogun, but recent maneuvers by Senator Yayi’s camp are challenging that dominance.

The battlegrounds have been identified across key local government areas, including Ado-Odo/Ota, Abeokuta South, Ipokia, Sagamu, and Ijebu North.

Reports suggest that Senator Yayi’s camp is deploying a two-pronged strategy to gain control. First, local government party chairmen, particularly in Ado-Odo/Ota and Yewa North, have allegedly been swayed to back Senator Yayi’s preferred candidates.

This tactic aims to marginalise Governor Abiodun’s loyalists, positioning Yayi’s faction to dominate in key local government chairmanship races.

Second, where local leaders resist Yayi’s influence, political caucuses loyal to the Senator have reportedly been deployed to create unrest.

These groups are allegedly stirring confusion and disrupting party unity, particularly in areas like Obafemi Owode, Sagamu, and Ewekoro, pressuring Governor Abiodun to concede to Yayi’s demands.

The stakes are high for Governor Abiodun, who is under mounting pressure to maintain his influence within the APC. With local government chairmen and key stakeholders reportedly shifting allegiance to Senator Yayi, concerns are growing over the governor’s diminishing control.

This internal strife could weaken Abiodun’s political standing and influence, not only in the upcoming local government polls but also in shaping the party’s future in Ogun State.

Political analysts note that Yayi’s faction has capitalized on the governor’s perceived vulnerabilities, exploiting divisions within the party and leveraging his growing support base in Ogun West Senatorial District.

While the immediate focus is on the 2024 local government elections, this power struggle is widely viewed as a precursor to the 2027 governorship race. Yayi, who has long been eyeing the governorship, appears to be laying the groundwork for a formidable bid.

By strategically placing his loyalists in key local government positions, Yayi could be positioning himself as a dominant force in Ogun politics.

Observers believe that if Yayi succeeds in installing his candidates across the state’s local governments, it could trigger a political realignment within the APC, further undermining Governor Abiodun’s leadership. Such a shift would not only alter the power dynamics within the party but also set the stage for Yayi’s potential governorship ambitions.

Senator Adeola Yayi Remains The Best Thing That Has Ever Happened To Our People – Says Ikolaje-Idiroko Youths

Teeming youths from Ikolaje-Idiroko Land, Ipokia Local Government Area, Ogun State, have declared that Senator Solomon Adeola Yayi remains the best thing that has ever happened to their people.
The youths made the declaration while reacting to a recent publication attributed to one Hakeem Adisa, who claimed to be writing from their community.
Following the publication titled “Ogun 2027: Olamilekan, Not The Best Foot To Put Forward As APC Governorship Candidate,” the youths lampooned the unknown writer for several unsubstantiated claims against distinguished Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola Yayi CON.
In a statement signed by High Chief Bankole Atinshola, Olori-Odo of Ikolaje-Idiroko Land, the youths said, ” We want to emphatically and categorically state that Mr. Hakeem Adisa is an unknown faceless political jobber masquerading to have originated from our town, and his views do not represent the position of the people of Ikolaje-Idiroko Land”.

“Unapologetically, Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola YAYI, the Aremo of Yewa, has been a true friend and partner in progress to our community. His developmental contributions are evident across Ikolaje-Idiroko Land and beyond. His unquantifiable and immeasurable developmental contributions include the establishment of an ICT center at Iko Gateway Grammar School, the construction and rehabilitation of our town connecting roads, the donation of a brand-new ambulance to the General Hospital Idiroko, the building of an ultramodern town hall, the distribution of notebooks to our schools, and the facilitation of computer training programs for our students and teachers. Not limited to that, Senator YAYI has assiduously initiated numerous empowerment programs that have greatly benefited our teeming youths and residents.”

“It is essential to emphasize that no one in Ikolaje-Idiroko has expressed any grievances or disparity to the developmental acumen of Senator YAYI. On all fronts, we appreciate his relentless commitment to the welfare and development of our people. His endorsement by our traditional ruler as the Aremo of Yewa further solidifies his deep connection and commitment to Yewaland.”
“Alas, it is pathetic that the political naysayers are maneuvering Hakeem Adisa to taunt a moving force and they have chosen Ikolaje-Idiroko against all odds to masquerade; it’s a mission that is dead on arrival. For the umpteenth time, We are solidly behind Senator YAYI and are prepared to go all out in support of his future political ambitions. He is a worthy leader whose developmental achievements speaks for him and we have unwavering faith in his ability to lead and represent our interests effectively.”

“To this logical conclusion, we urge the public to disregard the baseless statements made by the said Hakeem Adisa. We also call on responsible media outlets and individuals to verify the authenticity and credibility of their sources before publishing misleading contents. Senator YAYI remains a respected figure in our community and we are fully in support of his political endeavours.”

“We, the Youths of Ikolaje-Idiroko Land reaffirm our supports and appreciation to the distinguished Senator; for his contributions to our community and we express our unwavering belief in his capacity to continue championing the interests of our people.”

Ogun 2027: Senator Olamilekan Adeola is a trailblazer

Ordinarily, it would have amounted to a mere waste of precious time and unnecessary dissipation of energy for anyone to react to a wrongly captioned and inconsequential write-up captioned “ Ogun 2027: Olamilekan Not The Best Foot To Put Forward As APC governorship candidate” that appeared over the weekend in an equally unknown online blog.

The entire piece is not only laden with grammatical errors and crass misrepresentation of facts on the political events in Ogun West and its agitation for governorship aspiration in 2027; it is largely infused with absolute falsehood and pathetic innuendoes typical of goofy and crafty charlatans.

It is often said that “when an irrational person says something irrational, you don’t have to reply to him, because it is nonsense to shoo every barking dog away”.

Authored by half-wit turn coat politicians hiding behind one finger using a pseudo character, Hakeem Adisa pretending to be writing from Idiroko-Yewa, the piece is certainly dead on arrival as it has failed to achieve the nefarious agenda of its frustrated dramatic personae. This is because the good people of Ogun West are neither politically naïve nor gullible to believe such lies and contrived propaganda emanating from the jaundiced view of some morally and politically bankrupt individuals.

However, this response has become politically expedient to unmask the infantile and naivety of the amateurish article and to guide the reading public against misinformation by certain politicians who will always be remembered as spooky characters from a horror movie! These are people who are always trying to solve their own problems and selfish economic agenda under the pretext of representing the common interests of the people. The truth (Yayi’s phenomenon) is still the truth even if his enemies do not believes it, conversely, lies as characterized by the infamous article under reference are still lies no matter how well they are embellished.

The crux of the matter and the only reason why these fifth columnists are having sleepless nights is nothing but the unquenchable glowing flame of Yayi’s unprecedented accomplishments and the clarion calls for him to run for the Governor of our great state in 2027.

To some belligerent and never -do-well political jobbers in Ogun West Senatorial District, Adeola’s ever rising political profile through his numerous farewell to poverty empowerment programs and unbeatable capital projects across the nooks and crannies of the senatorial district and beyond which have attracted national commendations have continued to be a nightmare.

They have not fully come to terms with the fact that it is no longer politics as usual in Ogun West and the days of riding on the backs of the good people of Ogun West in the name of “Yewa for Governor “ to nature their epileptic business enterprises but delivering bad fortunes to the good people of Yewa, are over. So, they must do anything and everything to put out the glowing flame now beaming progressive light on the Ogun West political space as evidenced by the good works of Senator Adeola Yayi who has suddenly repositioned Ogun West in the country’s contemporary politics. Needless to say that politics is not a business but rather a call to serve God and humanity. This is the cause of their affliction and the main reason why they are calling Senator Yayi bad names and making spurious names and making spurious allegations against him.

What they fail to realise, however, is that Senator Adeola’s governorship aspiration apart from being his genuine desire to serve, also represents a mass movement by the marginalised people of Ogun State to take their destinies into their own hands by electing a servant leader who understands their endemic problems and who will ensure their greatest happiness by serving the common interests of the people based on his credibility, humanitarianism, good character, wealth of successful political experience, empathic leadership and philanthropy.

Because it is often said that the voice of the people is the voice of the God, I can safely say here that the people’s movement to have Senator Yayi run for the governor of Ogun State in 2027 shall be ordained by God and supported by men and women of goodwill in Ogun State. That being the case, can millions of “Hakeems” and they paymasters in their desperation and jaundiced vituperation turn back the wheel of progress or challenge the will of God and the determination of the people?

This rejoinder is therefore not intended to join issues with the fictitious Hakeem in his failed and puerile attempts at disparaging the personality of Senator Olamilekan Adeola or create discord between him and some top politicians in Ogun West and beyond for as I said earlier, it has both failed to pull a strand of hair from Yayi’s head or deceive the public into believing their moonlight stories.

What the faceless writer and his political nincompoops fail to know or blatantly in their despicable ways, refuse to acknowledge is that Senator Olamilekan Adeola not only enjoys the support and loyalty of the good people of Ogun West, he has also succeeded in building bridges of progress and solidarity across Ogun State. So, the ‘coalition of core Yewa political and traditional leaders’ in the Senatorial District opposing Yayi’s aspiration only exists only in the imagination of those who propound the infamous “kinetic theory” of political propaganda.

Interestingly, having failed woefully to stop Senator Yayi from coming home to his fatherland of Yewa, they have now shifted the goalposts and began a new series of attacks and propaganda under the pretext of a mundane political catapult codenamed “Core Yewa”.

Who determines the paternity of who? My advise to those who think they are the core Yewas, particularly those behind this attack, is to take heed and be careful of what they wish for because a Yoruba adage says that : ti a ba ka eru, inu eru a baje (if we should count slaves, some slaves will be stunned to their stomach).

In his hallucination and crass ignorance of raging political events in Ogun West, the failed writer stated that Senator Adeola might not be the best ‘foot’, meaning the best candidate Ogun West should put forward for the governorship race, claiming his ancestry as authentic Yewaman is still in question. A sad and very stale commentary that has long been consigned to ignominy! Many of those peddling such wicked and unsubstantiated claims have since retraced their steps and joined Adeola’s swelling army of supporters across Ogun West!

The people of Ogun West and indeed from all over Ogun State are unanimous in their choice and clamor for Adeola’s governorship reality in 2027. Since his entrance into Ogun West political space, Yayi has brought an unprecedented infrastructural and human capita development to the zone. With numerous social, economic, education, health and road infrastructural development cited in all the nooks and crannies of Ogun West in the last two years, Aremo of Yewaland has left no one in doubt about his mission to liberate Ogun West from the many years of political obscurity and endemic poverty.

The blind could see and the deaf could hear that Senator Adeola is not only a political game changer but a statesman and liberator for the socio-economic emancipation of Ogun West Senatorial District. His political machinery in the West is not only formidable; he is also surrounded by unwavering, committed and loyal foot-solders working assiduously, creating necessary alliances across the divides for the realization of the collective wishes of the people.
