10 years of World Youth Skills Day , but who is still left behind?

Today, the world celebrates a decade of empowering young people with skills for the future especially through AI and digital innovation. But at CAPRIGHTS-VP, we are asking a crucial question:
How can a child who has been denied access to education develop digital skills?

For many vulnerable children especially child domestic workers, basic education remains a dream. These are the children cleaning, cooking, and caregiving when they should be learning, growing, and building skills for life. Until we close this gap, global conversations about skills and digital futures remain incomplete.

As we mark this 10th anniversary, we recommit to our work of protecting, educating, and empowering every child ,especially the ones no one sees. Because if education is the key to skills, then access must come first.

The Role of Sensitization in Shaping Young Minds

At CAPRIGHTS-VP, we believe that sensitization is not just an activity,it is a powerful tool for transformation. When children are informed, they are empowered. And when they are empowered, they become protectors of their rights and advocates for others.

Guided by this belief, we visited Muslim Junior College, Egbe, where we engaged students in meaningful conversations around child rights, safety, and the hidden exploitation many child domestic workers endure.

These weren’t just passive listeners, these were young voices awakening. They asked thoughtful questions, shared reflections, and boldly expressed their commitment to protecting one another. It was a moment of hope. A reminder that the future is already rising in the hearts of our children.

At CAPRIGHTS-VP, we’re not just raising awareness,we’re building a movement. A movement where every child knows their worth, speaks their truth, and stands against injustice.

Stay tuned for more highlights from this impactful outreach. We are reclaiming the future, one child, one school, one community at a time.

The power of storytelling.
To mark the Day of the African Child, CAPRIGHTS-VP opened the event with a powerful playlet that told the story behind the day and the importance of protecting children’s rights. Through drama and storytelling, we helped children connect with the message in a meaningful way, making it not just a performance, but a reminder that their voices, safety, and dignity matter.

A week ago ,June 17th, 2025,
CAPRIGHTS-VP had the honour of joining voices at the 4th Edition of the Day of the African Child Celebration, held at the esteemed Radio Nigeria Broadcasting House, Ikoyi, Lagos.

With this year’s theme, “Investing in Children, Investing in Africa’s Future,” the atmosphere was charged with purpose, reflection, and bold declarations for change.

The celebration opened with a warm welcome from ADP Maria Ihuoma, followed by an address from the chief host, Mrs. Bolanle Owoyemi, Director of FRCN Lagos Operations. Their words set a powerful tone that echoed throughout the day.

Then came our moment and we made it count.

At CAPRIGHTS-VP, we believe in making impact with intention.
We opened with a gripping drama performance that revisited the roots of the Day of the African Child, honouring the legacy of the 1976 Soweto Uprising. The performance wasn’t just art ,it was a statement.

This was followed by a passionate talk on child rights, where we reminded all present that the future of Africa lies in how we treat, raise, and protect her children today.

To invest in children is to secure the soul of our continent and that’s a mission we carry every day at CAPRIGHTS-VP.

Stay with us we’ll be sharing powerful clips and moments from the event in the coming days!

International Day of the African Child - June 16

First declared in 1991 by the African Union, this day honours the brave children of Soweto, South Africa, who marched in 1976 to demand their right to education and were met with violence. Today, we remember their courage and continue their fight.

At CAPRIGHTS-VP, we carry this legacy forward by advocating for the protection, education, and dignity of child domestic workers and all vulnerable children.

From the classrooms to the airwaves, we're creating spaces where children are seen, heard, and celebrated.

Today, we celebrate them
Tomorrow, we take the message further with Radio Nigeria.

Every child deserves a future and we’re helping them reclaim it.

World Day Against Child Labour

The cost of cheap labour should never be a child's life.
No child especially a Child Domestic Worker (CDW) should be burdened with responsibilities that rob them of education, safety, and dignity.

No child should be over working so that another can rest.

Let us raise our voices.
Let us raise awareness.
Let us take a stand against child labour in all its forms especially the hidden exploitation of child domestic workers.
Because every child deserves to be protected, not overworked.
Let's protect them from maltreatment.
