3 Abia North Constituents Depart Nigeria For Post Graduate Studies In China on Senator Kalu's Scholarship

In continuation of his human capital development, the Senator Representing Abia North Senatorial District, Distinguished Senator Orji Uzor Kalu has announced the departure of 3 of his young constituents to China on a study scholarship through his foundation.

Senator Kalu made this knkwn on his official page on Wednesday, September, 3rd 2025.

The three young constituents departed Nigeria for China to pursue their postgraduate studies.

They include, Sunny Idika from Ohafor ward who will do his masters at the Zhejiang Normal University, Jinhua, Emmanuel Iheakachukwu Odoemelam from Eziama Agno ward, Nneato Umunneochi L G.A who will run a Ph.D. programme in Organic Chemistry at the Beijing University of Chemical Technology (BUCT) and Kingsley Onwukwe Orji from Igbere Ward A in Bende L.G.A who will run his masters programme at the Zhejiang Normal University, Jinhua.

According to the former Abia State Governor, the fully funded scholarship covers tuition fees, accommodation, health insurance, and monthly stipends which ensures that the students can focus on their academic pursuits without financial burden.

The initiative, championed by Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, Senator representing Abia North Senatorial District, reflects his longstanding commitment to youth empowerment, human capital development, and international exposure for the people of Abia North.

Gov. Otti Receives Abia Former Dep. Governor into Labour Party

In an unprecedented political shift, the immediate past Deputy Governor of Abia state, Rt. Hon. Sir Udeh Oko chukwu, has joined the Labour Party.

Sir Oko chukwu was officially received into the party on Saturday by the Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti at a grand reception held in his honour at his home town, Nkporo, Ohafia Local Government Area.

Recall, Oko chukwu, who recently resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), joined the Labour Party alongside his political structure "the Abia Vision Rangers" and numerous PDP loyalists.

The grand reception took place in Oko chukwu’s hometown of Nkporo, Ohafia Local Government Area, drawing a large crowd of party leaders and supporters.

Speaking at the event which drew a large crowd, Governor Otti described Sir Oko chukwu's defection as a “bold and weighty political move.”

He assured the former Deputy Governor of equitable treatment and equal opportunities within the Labour Party.

“Once you are a member of the party, you have equal rights and opportunities,” Governor Otti stated.

He described Oko chukwu as a longstanding friend who has consistently exhibited fairness and respect, despite divergent political paths.

Speaking earlier, Ude Oko Chukwu who was also a former speaker of the Abia state House of Assembly, said that his decision to join the Labour Party was informed by Governor Alex Otti’s achievements in office.

He praised Governor Otti for reconstructing the neglected Umuahia-Uzuakoli-Akara-Ohafia road, which, according to him, has enhanced transportation in the axis.

Oko chukwu's move to the Labour Party is seen as a boost to his political career and the party as his wealth of experience in politics and structure will change the political landscape especially in Abia North, and the state at large.
