Michael Oyedokun, a Mathematics teacher at Community High School, Ahoro-Esinele in Oriire LGA, Oyo State, is dead. Not in a classroom. Not from illness,but as a result of the increasing insecurity in our land. Gunmen on motorcycles stormed Community High School, Ahoro-Esinele, and neighboring schools during morning devotion. They shot sporadically, abducted teachers and pupils, and killed Assistant Headmaster Joel Adesiyan on the spot. Oyedokun was among those taken, Days later, a video showed him tied up, forced to speak, then beheaded. A video of the killing surfaced on Telegram Sunday, May 17. 2026
His name now joins the list of Nigerians murdered while the state issues press releases.
Even the security operatives themselves were not left out. Some soldiers, Amotekun operatives, and vigilantes lost their lives to IEDs planted by the kidnappers during rescue attempts.
If our highly rated Amotekun, soldiers, and vigilantes step on IEDs planted by criminals, it means the criminals are better prepared, better armed, and more mobile than the state.
Meanwhile, Tinubu and the APC have abandoned governance and are busy with the reelection campaign. The security architecture has collapsed completely under this regime. Bandits who once operated in the North now strike schools in Oyo, film executions, and circulate them online, flaunting weapons, ransom collected on social media handle, they no longer hide faces and yet they can not be apprehended.
This is no longer security, this is failure!
