PDP NWC SUSPENDS FOUR NATIONAL OFFICERS FOR ONE MONTH OVER ANTI-PARTY ACTIVITIES, GROSS MISCONDUCT

The National Working Committee (NWC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has suspended the National Secretary, Senator Samuel N. Anyanwu; National Legal Adviser, Kamaldeen Ajibade (SAN); National Organizing Secretary, Umar M. Bature; and Deputy National Legal Adviser, Barr. Okechukwu Onuoha for one (1) month with immediate effect, following a unanimous resolution at its 608th Meeting held today in Abuja.

The suspensions are premised on credible evidence of anti-party activities, gross misconduct, abuse of office, and deliberate sabotage of the party’s constitutional processes ahead of the National Convention scheduled for November 15–16, 2025, in Ibadan, Oyo State.

In a resolution delivered by the National Publicity Secretary, Hon. Debo Ologunagba, the NWC, following its earlier reprimand suspended them and immediately referred the four officers to the National Disciplinary Committee for further actions.

Some Nigerian Army personnel have raided the Abuja residence of a former governor and former Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Timipre Sylva, in connection with an alleged coup plot currently under investigation by the Defence Intelligence Agency (DIA), SaharaReporters can report.

Multiple security sources confirmed to SaharaReporters on Tuesday that the army raid occurred at Sylva’s home in the Maitama area of Abuja.

According to insiders, a “special military team” carried out the operation after intelligence linked the “former South-South governor” to secret meetings allegedly held with some of the detained military officers.

“Nigerian Army special team ransacked the home of Timipre Sylva, who is believed to have fled Nigeria,” one top source familiar with the development told SaharaReporters.

“He is the South-South former governor frequently mentioned in the case. His brother, named Paga, was picked up during the raid. The operation also extended to his Bayelsa residence.”

Another security insider said that while no official statement had been issued regarding the raid, the action was “not random” but “a direct response to intelligence linking certain political figures to the alleged plotters."

This development comes amid growing tension within the armed forces following SaharaReporters’ exclusive report that at least 16 senior military officers had been detained incommunicado by the DIA over an alleged coup plot.

The detained officers, drawn from the Army, Navy, and Air Force, have been held for over three weeks in an undisclosed Abuja facility under what sources described as “unusual and suspicious conditions.”

Ever since former President Jonathan lost the presidential elections on March 28 2015 which some of us knew he will never win based on the facts that we all know and the statistics available, majority of Igbo have been unhappy and angry. They have been cursing and abusing the President and APC leaders wishing that President Buhari never existed and APC never formed. Some of them have joined this small boy to begin to wish for the State of Biafra. Suddenly the so-called Radio Biafra has created a momentum for them. On facebook I have watched with a keen interest what these guys dish out on daily basis in the name of fighting for Biafra. They tell blatant lies, they create havoc, they make terrible noise, they abuse other Nigerians, and they preach unimaginable propaganda and hate that at once put Igbo land in potential danger. BREAKING: IPOB leader, Nnamdi Kanu has announced in court that he no longer intends on opening his defence in his ongoing terrorism trial, says there are no charges against him.

Kanu, who had previously informed the court of his desire to summon witnesses by submitting a written request for witness summons decided not to proceed with his initial plan to call witnesses to testify in his defense during his current trial for alleged terrorism charges.

When the case was brought up on Monday, Kanu asserted that after reviewing the case file, he found no legitimate charges against him.

He asserted that, due to his belief that no legitimate charges have been brought against him and that he was subjected to an unfair trial, he sees no reason to present a defense.

Justice James Omotosho instructed him to submit a written statement addressing the matter and ensure it is delivered to the prosecution.

Justice Omotosho recommended that he seek guidance from criminal law specialists regarding the implications of the path he has selected.

The judge has adjourned proceedings to the 4th, 5th, and 6th of November to allow for the final written arguments to be presented. This decision follows the defendant's claim that neither the evidence presented nor the charges have proven any case against him, prompting a consideration of whether he needs to present a defense.
