Relocating to Lagos has given me the opportunity to practice the things I learnt from reading personal development books, especially books on:

✓ Communication,

✓ Making friends,

✓ Understanding people,

✓ and putting myself in other people's shoes.

I realized that it's much easier to read and store those information in your brain, than it is to practice and apply them in reality.

In few weeks of working, I've made mistakes, misunderstood people, and jumped into conclusion...

After the incident, I'd remember I should have done this or that, or said this not that...

In all of this, I'm certain of one thing; I'm learning.

I made mistakes, failed, failed again, still failing, still learning, still getting better.

It's a whole new world outside the online world, a world outside books and courses...

Reading books and taking courses on these topics leaves you feeling like an expert, until you are faced with a real life situation without the comfort of your books/courses.

It's one thing to know how something should be done, it's another to apply that knowledge to a problem in reality.

I never knew Disney Junior could be this interesting! 🤭

I thought it was just entertainment for kids, but after watching it for a few weeks, I've come to love the channel.

It not only entertains, it always have a lesson to learn from every episode:

√ Mickey mouse fun house

√ Sofia the first

√ Eureka

√ PJ Masks

√ Spidey and his amazing friends

I watch Disney Junior more than any other channel here, and we always look forward to every episodes of Sofia the First.

Another Disney Junior Fan here 👌

"You look like the Kenyans"

"Are you sure you are from Anambra State?"

"Which side in Anambra?"

Ah! This Lagos people dey amaze me 🤭

Should I ask my parents if I'm truly a Nigerian or if I'm a half-caste?

𝗖𝗜𝗧𝗬 𝗞𝗜𝗗 𝗟𝗜𝗞𝗘𝗦 𝗦𝗡𝗔𝗞𝗘𝗦 😳
(𝗔𝗺𝗮𝗸𝗮 𝗶𝗻 𝗟𝗮𝗴𝗼𝘀 #𝟰)

Some of our neighbors kids came to stay with us for a few hours...

As usual, I changed the channel to 'Disney Junior', the channel most children love.

Instead of watching Mickey mouse mermaid adventure, they insisted on watching channel 51 (or 61).

I pressed the channel number and it was NAT GEO WILD!

I turned to them and asked if they really want to watch this channel and they all said Yes.

"You like watching animals?" I asked again to be sure.

"Yes!" They shouted, jumping on the sofa.

"All right"

Guess which animal was on the screen?

𝗕𝗜𝗚 𝗙𝗔𝗧 𝗗𝗔𝗡𝗚𝗘𝗥𝗢𝗨𝗦 𝗦𝗡𝗔𝗞𝗘!

I thought they would be scared to see the snakes, instead, they were excited and then, the stories began...

The eldest one told me how a snake similar to the one on the screen bit him while he was playing in the bush.

My heart almost jumped out of my mouth!

"Seriously?" 😳

"Yes"

"Here in Lagos?"

"Yes"

He was even smiling! Ah!

He went on to point out every snake he has seen on the screen and the ones similar to it.

I learnt a whole lot about snakes, the different types of snakes and the top 10 most dangerous snakes in the world.

King Cobra

Asian Vipers

Anaconda

Green Anaconda

And many more.

I enjoyed watching NAT GEO WILD with them, enjoyed shouting and hiding my scared face whenever a snake is about to bite a human, swallow animals and fellow snakes.

Some of these snakes are cute yet dangerous, some are cunning while others shouldn't have existed in the first place.

Anyways, I learnt from NAT GEO WILD that despite all the negativities associated with snakes, they're actually very important to us.

Without them, agriculture won't survive.

Now that I think of it, mosquitoes, those blood sucking insects, are actually important to us.

A simple Google search will reveal more about this.

So, thanks to those kids, I'm now a NAT GEO WILD fan (not the snakes).

Meanwhile, would you like to have a snake as a pet?

𝗔𝗠𝗔𝗞𝗔 𝗜𝗡 𝗟𝗔𝗚𝗢𝗦 (𝗗𝗮𝘆 𝟯)

𝗢𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗮 𝗺𝗮𝗿𝗸𝗲𝘁𝗲𝗿, 𝗮𝗹𝘄𝗮𝘆𝘀 𝗮 𝗺𝗮𝗿𝗸𝗲𝘁𝗲𝗿...

It's been one month since I arrived Lagos and I already spotted 2 awesome physical products that when advertised really well on social media, will sell like crazy.

Those two physical products, I haven't heard or seen either of them in Anambra State

One is a foam cleaner and the other, a surge protector, and the benefits are so simple and clear that even a blind man can see.

Oh! I wished I learnt e-commerce marketing when I got the chance!

But I don't have to be an e-commerce marketer to sell these product, right?

I only need to know how to market, sell and close customers.

Anyways, I had an idea...

✓ Reach out to people who sell these products in large quantity,

✓ make a deal with them,

✓ market the product,

✓ get a percentage for the sales that came through me.

Simply brilliant, huh?

The only issue might be how to keep track of the people that actually bought through you.

I found a bulk seller for one of the products and I'm yet to carry out my research on the other.

See how I just planned a new business in my mind?

𝗢𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗮 𝗺𝗮𝗿𝗸𝗲𝘁𝗲𝗿, 𝗮𝗹𝘄𝗮𝘆𝘀 𝗮 𝗺𝗮𝗿𝗸𝗲𝘁𝗲𝗿.

Indeed, once you keep an open mind and you are curious, you'll always find opportunities around you... One that many people ignore.

Did you find something new today?

What do you think about my Lagos business plan?

P.S: Anticipate a tutorial reel on the foam cleaner soon.

𝗜 𝗛𝗔𝗩𝗘 𝗔 𝗠𝗨𝗠 𝗜𝗡 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗢𝗙𝗙𝗜𝗖𝗘 🖤

One thing I love about this company is the friendly atmosphere.

The staff members are friendly, willing and ready to help. I became friends with many of them right from my first day at work.

So, I have new friends. Bravo!

While I was chatting with the acting manager on my first day, I told her about creating a social media page for the company.

(I forgot to mention that it's a new company)

And not just that, I also told her about creating a Google My Business account for the company to attract customers in Lagos, especially customers living in Festac town.

It was all new to her and you should have seen me in teaching mode.

(Sidenote: Teaching is fun when you know what you are teaching).

The fact that the company will truly get customers from their Google my business account sounded too good to be true but I re-assured her and handled her objections.

I hope to be granted the permission to create a page and a Google My Business account for "my" company.

(Another sidenote: Having a digital skill is wonderful. Get one if you don't have any)

Speaking of the acting manager, she's like my mum in this company. From the first day we met, she started advising me like her own daughter.

She advised:

√ You need to go to school no matter what. In fact, you must go to school. You are young, and brilliant. Start saving for school today.

(This is the second time and outsider is telling me that I NEED to go to school even if I don't need the certificate).

√ Be prayerful. Don't be carried away by what you see in this generation.

√ Don't be ashamed of working and making money, so long as you are not doing anything illegal.

√ Never exchange your body for money. Be proud of your work, learn, save money and invest in your education.

√ I see that you already have digital skills and you are doing well for yourself. With your knowledge, you'll make money and meet important people here.

This is just the summary of the priceless advice she gave me.

Currently, I have 3 mothers; my biological mum, my second mum - NaijaBrandChick, and my Acting Manager.

Oh! Did I mention that I also have a big sister here? I learnt that today.

I have a lot to share with you but we will continue the gist tomorrow.

Follow Chinwe Amaka's Blog to read every episode of

P.S: I know that I haven't told you what this company is all about, but I will... Soon. I'll reveal the company, the name, location, why I chose to work here and I'll also invite you over if you live in or around Festac Town.

Meanwhile, can you guess?

If you guessed right, I'll tag you on the next post.

P.P.S: Co-workers, family members, and relatives including in-laws are not allowed to guess 😁🫢

I've just reached 700 followers!

I didn't do it, you did it!

A page is useless if no one is interested in it's content.

Thank you so much!!!

I choose to celebrate you today.

Happy International Women's Day to all the women here.

Thank you all for your consistent support on my page.

I could never have made it without each one of you.

𝗔𝗠𝗔𝗞𝗔 𝗜𝗡 𝗟𝗔𝗚𝗢𝗦

🖤 I got an interesting part-time job today.

One that gives me the opportunity to meet new people everyday and to improve my social skill (I've been indoors for too long).

The words of Mr. Ugochukwu Omeogu kept ringing in my ears.

"You work to get experience, to learn how to run a business, not to be get salary!"
..and that's exactly what I intend doing on this job; get experience, learn on the job, improve my social skill and learn how to run a business.

Meanwhile, I'm still open to working remotely and creating a good online presence for service providers who are new to social media marketing through my content creation skill.

🖤 I got a new friend today.

A guy in particular and he's my coworker. He's experienced, fun to be with and I look forward to working and learning from him.

I tried convincing him that he can create a course on his knowledge, monetize it and make lots of money from it but he declined.

Anyways, he's willing to watch me do it when I get the experience.

🖤 I met a guy who has a different handwriting. I've never seen anything like that before. It's thin and beautiful and I didn't hesitate to let him know how beautiful it is.

Not just that, he went through my Facebook timeline and said "You are a big shot".

He indirectly suggested I start this series when he asked me if I journal on Facebook.

(If you are reading this, thank you for your kind words and keep up with that beautiful handwriting).

𝗧𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗶𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗵𝗶𝗴𝗵𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝗺𝘆 𝗱𝗮𝘆.

I decided to start a new series today; 𝗔𝗠𝗔𝗞𝗔 𝗜𝗡 𝗟𝗔𝗚𝗢𝗦, and I'm going to share the highlight of my interesting days in Lagos with you.

This is day 1 of my diary.
