Inter-Services Intelligence chief Lt Gen Muhammad Asim Malik held a meeting with Bahrain’s crown prince, Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, on Sunday and discussed ways to enhance cooperation, as well as the latest regional and international developments, according to Bahrain’s state news agency. Bahrain News Agency reported that the meeting was held at the official royal residence, Riffa Palace. The report said the crown prince, who is also the commander of Bahrain’s armed forces, “affirmed the depth of the bilateral relations” that “continue to strengthen due to a shared commitment to furthering ties and achieving common goals” between the two countries.

Iran has reportedly been invited to join the Mecca Joint Defence Agreement between Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Türkiye.

Mehdi Rahimi, head of Iran’s parliamentary news agency Khaneh Mellat, told Al-Mayadeen that Iran had received an invitation and that the proposal is “under consideration.”

However, the reported invitation has not yet been independently confirmed by Iran’s Foreign Ministry or senior leadership, nor publicly by Saudi Arabia, Pakistan or Türkiye.

Reports suggest that Iran’s potential inclusion could significantly expand the strategic scope of the emerging regional defence partnership.

Iran has reportedly received an invitation to join the Makkah Joint Defence Agreement signed by Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Türkiye, according to Mehdi Rahimi, head of Iran’s parliament-linked news agency Khaneh Mellat.

Rahimi told Al Mayadeen that Tehran had received an invitation to join the defence framework and that “the matter is under consideration.”

The claim has not yet been independently confirmed by Iran’s Foreign Ministry or senior leadership, while Saudi Arabia, Pakistan and Türkiye have also not publicly confirmed that Iran has been invited.
