At 92 years old, Paul Biya is Africa’s oldest serving head of state and has been President of Cameroon since November 6, 1982 . That's over 43 years in office and counting .
Just days after declaring his candidacy, Biya undertook a major reshuffle of the military leadership, promoting key generals and reasserting control over the armed forces—widely interpreted as an effort to secure loyalty ahead of the vote.,
In his words:
“I’m running for the presidential election on October 12, 2025… Rest assured that my determination to serve you matches the urgency of the challenges before us. Together there are no challenges we cannot overcome. The best is still to come.”
