The way African mothers look at you in public when you start saying things they NEVER asked you to say… especially in front of people they’re not comfortable with. 😂
That one look is not just a look. It’s a full warning, threat, and final notice. 🚨
You’ll still be smiling like everything is fine, but deep down, you already know… you will cry when you get home. 😭😂
African mothers don’t need to say a word. Their eyes have already delivered the entire message. 😂
Have you ever received that look before? 👀

A MARRIAGE CAN LOOK PERFECT FROM THE OUTSIDE AND STILL BE STRUGGLING INSIDE.

Beautiful pictures don't tell you everything.
A couple can smile for photographs and still be having difficult conversations behind closed doors.
That's why comparing your marriage to what you see online can be dangerous.
Don't compare your everyday life to somebody else's highlight reel.
Work on your friendship.
Your communication.
Your peace.
Your connection.
Have you ever caught yourself comparing your relationship to couples you see online?

YOUR CHILD'S BEHAVIOR MAY BE SAYING SOMETHING THEY DON'T KNOW HOW TO SAY.

Sometimes a child isn't simply being "difficult."
Maybe they're tired.
Maybe they're struggling at school.
Maybe they're feeling left out.
Maybe they're jealous of a sibling.
Maybe they simply need your attention.
Discipline matters, but so does understanding.
Before asking, "What's wrong with this child?"
Try asking:
"What happened?"
That one question can completely change the conversation.
Do you usually ask questions before disciplining your child?

NOBODY TALKS ENOUGH ABOUT THIS PART OF MARRIAGE…

Sometimes your spouse isn't asking you to fix everything.
They just want to know that you see them.
"I know you're tired."
"Thank you for everything you do."
"How are you really feeling?"
Small words can mean so much when someone has been carrying responsibilities all day.
Marriage isn't only about big romantic gestures.
Sometimes love sounds like, "I've got you. Rest."
When last did your spouse make you feel genuinely appreciated?

PARENTS, CAN WE BE HONEST FOR A MINUTE?
Sometimes you're not tired because you don't love your children.
You're tired because you're carrying so much.
The school runs.
The meals.
The laundry.
The homework.
The appointments.
The bills.
The constant questions.
And somehow, you're still expected to have energy left for yourself.
Whether you're raising children in Lagos, London, Toronto, Atlanta or anywhere else, parenting can be beautiful and exhausting at the same time.
You can love your children deeply and still need a break.
Parents, when was the last time you genuinely had time for yourself?

Parents, put down your phone for one minute… this question is for you.”

How are you really doing?
Not the "I'm fine."
Not the "I'm managing."
I mean honestly...
Are you tired?
Are you enjoying parenting?
Are you overwhelmed?
Are you proud of yourself?
Are you struggling with something you haven't told anyone?
Sometimes we spend so much time checking on our children that we forget to check on ourselves.
Did they eat?
Did they sleep?
Did they finish homework?
Do they have clean clothes?
Did they get to school on time?
But when was the last time you asked yourself:
"How am I doing?"
Parents need care too.
You don't stop being human because you became a mother or father.
You still need rest.
You still need laughter.
You still need adult conversations.
You still need time to breathe.
And asking for help doesn't mean you're failing.
Sometimes the strongest thing a parent can say is:
"I need some help today."
So if you're reading this after a long week, I hope you remember that you don't have to have everything figured out.
Your children don't need a perfect parent.
They need a parent who keeps showing up, keeps learning and keeps loving them.
Take the picture.
Give the hug.
Enjoy the laugh.
Rest when you can.
And please remember to look after yourself too.
Because you are part of the family you're working so hard to take care of. ❤️

If you could give yourself one thing this week—more sleep, more help, more patience, more time alone, or simply a break—which one would you choose?
