Top problems clients face with solar installation systems in Nigeria*

‎As a technician/vendor, if you solve these upfront, you’ll win jobs + get referrals. Grant panels also love businesses that address real customer pain.

‎*1. System Doesn’t Meet Expectation*
‎1. *Wrong sizing / “Light won’t stay”*: Client told “this 3kW will run AC 24hrs”. Reality: Battery dies by 2am. Pain = distrust
‎2. *Unrealistic promises*: Quacks say “no NEPA bill again”. Then client still uses generator. Feels scammed

‎*2. Component & Quality Issues*
‎3. *Fake/Grade B panels + batteries*: Client buys “Grade A” but gets recycled cells. Battery swells/dies in 6-12 months
‎4. *Inverter keeps beeping/shutting down*: Cheap PWM + no proper settings. Can’t handle fridge surge or AC
‎5. *Cable fire/heating*: Installer used thin DC cable to cut cost. Resistance = heat = fire risk

‎*3. After-Sales Problems*
‎6. *No warranty/service*: Installer collects money + disappears. Panel issue? Battery issue? Client is stuck
‎7. *Slow response time*: System down during blackout, but tech says “I’ll come next week”. Client loses food + productivity
‎8. *No maintenance plan*: Dust covers panels → 30% power loss. Loose connections cause sparks. But no one told client to clean/service yearly

‎*4. Money & Transparency Issues*
‎9. *Hidden costs*: Quote was ₦1.2M. After install: “Add ₦180k for cable, breaker, transport”. Client feels cheated

*Brief note on getting good solar panels:*

As a solar tech, I see it every day: cheap panels = expensive problems later. Here’s how to spot the good ones:

*The 4-Check Rule:*
1. *Check the brand + warranty*
Good panels = Tier 1 brands like Jinko, JA Solar, Trina, Canadian Solar, Longi.
Look for: 12yr product warranty + 25yr performance warranty. If it’s only “5 years”, walk away.

2. *Check the efficiency*
Good panels today = 20%+ efficiency. Means more power from same roof space.
Bad panels = below 18%. They’ll look the same but give you less units.

3. *Check the cells*
Ask for “MONO PERC” or “N-Type TOPCon” cells. They handle heat + shade better.
Avoid old “Poly” panels - cheaper but weaker, especially in Lusaka heat.

4. *Check for paperwork*
Real panels have serial numbers + datasheet + test flash report. No paperwork = high chance it’s fake/B-grade. B-grade panels crack, delaminate, lose power fast.

*Quick rule from me to you*: Don’t buy panels only by “watts”. A 550W fake panel < 450W real panel over 5 years.

Buying for home or client? Tell me the size/load and I’ll tell you exactly what specs to ask for so you don’t get conned.

You doing an install soon?

For "rays" = mounting rails/brackets on the roof, the *best mounting method depends on your roof type*. The goal is; zero leaks + strong hold for 25 years.

‎*What roof type are you installing on? Tell me shingle, tile, metal, or flat and Ajfsolartech will give you the exact mounting kit + spacing to use.
