The Nigeria Police Force has commenced the deployment of personnel and operational assets across Osun State ahead of Saturday’s governorship election.

The deployment is aimed at protecting lives and property, securing electoral materials and personnel, and maintaining law and order throughout the election period.

The Police say the operation is also designed to provide a safe and peaceful environment for residents to exercise their democratic rights.

Authorities have urged voters and other stakeholders to remain calm, law-abiding and peaceful before, during and after the election.

Pyrates Confraternity Warns Tinubu Against Rigging Osun Governorship Election.

The National Association of Seadogs, also known as Pyrates Confraternity, has urged President Bola Tinubu to resist any attempt to rig Saturday’s Osun State governorship election in favour of the All Progressives Congress, APC.

The group called on the President to act as a statesman by ensuring a level playing field for all candidates and allowing the people of Osun State to freely choose their next governor.

The NAS Capoon, Dr Charles Meribole, made the call in a statement titled, “The Votes Must Count in Osun Governorship Election.”

The group expressed concern over the pre-election violence recorded in the state, warning that continued bloodshed and political tension pose a serious threat to democracy.

It urged President Tinubu to direct security agencies to protect voters and ensure that no political party or candidate is given undue advantage during the election.

The group said the President, as Commander-in-Chief, has a responsibility to ensure the safety of voters and prevent the use of federal power to suppress the will of the people.

NAS also called on the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, to use the Osun election to restore public confidence in the electoral process.

It urged the commission to ensure the proper deployment of electoral materials, maintain the integrity of its officials and accurately record and protect every vote cast at polling units.

The group further warned against irregularities such as the alteration of results, disappearance of electoral officers and result sheets, and other actions capable of undermining the credibility of the election.

NAS called on security agencies to remain neutral and avoid excessive militarisation of the state, stressing that their loyalty should be to the Constitution and the Nigerian people, not to any politician or political party.

It also appealed to political leaders and their supporters to prioritise peace over personal ambition and urged voters to remain peaceful before, during and after the election.

The group said Osun State had suffered enough bloodshed, stressing that the people deserve a free, fair and credible election in which every vote counts.

APM ELECTS NEW NATIONAL WORKING COMMITTEE, UNVEILS AGENDA AHEAD OF 2027

ANIKE TV NEWS UPDATE — AUGUST 14, 2026

The Allied Peoples Movement, APM, has elected a new National Working Committee as the party intensifies preparations for the 2027 general elections.

Delegates from across the country gathered in Bauchi State for the party’s second National Elective Convention.

Yusuf Dantalle was returned as National Chairman through affirmation, while other members of the National Working Committee were also elected. Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, emerged as the party’s National Leader.

The party says tackling poverty, unemployment and economic challenges will remain central to its agenda.

APM presidential candidate and Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, pledged to prioritise poverty reduction and job creation if elected.

The party says it will now focus on mobilising support for its candidates and strengthening opposition cooperation ahead of the 2027 elections.

TURAKI-LED PDP FACTION BACKS ADELEKE FOR OSUN GOVERNORSHIP ELECTION.

The Kabiru Turaki-led faction of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has endorsed Accord Party candidate and Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, for Saturday’s governorship election.

The faction announced its decision in a statement issued on Thursday by its National Publicity Secretary, Ini Ememobong.

The endorsement follows a Court of Appeal judgment upholding the nomination of Adebayo Adedamola as the PDP candidate for the election.

The court also directed INEC to include the PDP logo on the ballot for the August 15, 2026, governorship election.

MAKINDE PICKS EX-DSS BOSS DAURA AS RUNNING MATE FOR 2027.

Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has picked former DSS Director-General, Lawal Musa Daura, as his running mate for the 2027 presidential election under the Allied Peoples Movement, APM.

Makinde unveiled Daura at the party’s national convention in Bauchi State, where he was also elected the APM presidential candidate.

Daura, who served as DSS Director-General from 2015 to 2018, replaces Ibrahim Adamu Bala, who was earlier announced as Makinde’s running mate.

Makinde pledged to tackle insecurity and poverty, while calling for opposition parties to unite ahead of the 2027 elections.

The Imole Campaign Council has dismissed claims that the Accord Party endorsed the APC governorship candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, ahead of Saturday’s election in Osun State.

The council described the endorsement as a political stunt, alleging that Christopher Imumolen, who made the endorsement, does not represent the officially recognised leadership of the Accord Party.

According to the council, INEC-recognised National Chairman of the Accord Party, Barrister Maxwell Obinali Mgbudem, remains firmly behind Governor Ademola Adeleke’s re-election.

The council urged the public to disregard the endorsement claim, describing it as false and misleading.
