IKONO CHAIRMAN HOSTS ELDERS, PLEDGES SUPPORT FOR MECHANISED FARMING, COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT
Earlier today, Ikono Chairman, Rt. Hon. Oto-Obong Okon Essien, hosted a heart-to-heart interactive session with ward (3) Mbiabong Ikon 1 group of villages head and other elders at the council's headquarters in Ibiaku Ntok Okpo.
The meeting aimed to chart a better course for improving the lives of community members and addressing pressing concerns.
Chairman Essien welcomed the elders, thanking them for their support and pledging to protect the people of Mbiabong Ikon. She emphasised the need for mechanised farming and revealed plans to introduce a yam multiplication farm, among other initiatives, to boost revenue generation in the area.
The Ikono Council Boss urged community leaders to safeguard government projects and properties in their area and to utilise every opportunity, assuring them of a brighter future.
The visiting elders commended Chairman Essien for her efforts in repositioning Mbiabong Ikon 1 and addressing water reticulation issues. They also called for the rebuilding of Atim Market to enhance business opportunities and revenue generation.
The meeting was attended by notable officials, including Barr. Nsima Akang, Dean of Supervisors/SA on Legal and Inter-Party Relations; Hon. Etido Effiong Inyang, Supervisor on Culture, Tourism and Revenue Mobilisation, and others.
In a related development, Chairman Essien conducted a crucial inspection of the boundary between government-owned land and Ibiaku Ntok Okpo village, joined by the council's secretary, Hon. Bassey Umo, and other stakeholders.
