I participated in the exercise in my ward alongside other party faithfuls, and I congratulate His Excellency, Pastor Umo Eno, PhD, on his emergence as the APC Governorship Flagbearer.

REP UKPONG-UDO EMERGES APC CANDIDATE FOR IKONO/INI FEDERAL CONSTITUENCY AFTER PRIMARIES VICTORY

The Member representing Ikono/Ini Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Emmanuel Ukpong-udo, PhD, has been declared the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) following the successful conduct of the party’s House of Representatives primaries held on Friday, May 16, 2026.

The primaries, conducted across all 21 ward centres in Ikono and Ini Local Government Areas, recorded massive participation by party delegates, stakeholders, and members, which reflected strong grassroots engagement within the party. At the end of the exercise, Rep. Ukpong-udo secured a total of 29,065 votes, emerging overwhelmingly as the APC flagbearer for the 2027 general elections.

Party officials and observers widely described the process as peaceful, transparent, and credible, commending the orderly conduct of participants and the maturity displayed throughout the exercise.

Reacting to his victory, Rep. Ukpong-udo expressed deep appreciation to party leaders, delegates, and supporters for the confidence reposed in him. He noted that the outcome represents not just a personal victory, but a collective affirmation of a shared vision for sustained development, inclusive representation, and people-centred governance in Ikono/Ini Federal Constituency.

He particularly praised the Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Pastor Umo Eno, PhD, and the Senate President, Dr Godswill Akpabio, GCON, for their leadership and commitment to unity and fairness within the APC.

The lawmaker reaffirmed his commitment to consolidating ongoing empowerment initiatives, expanding opportunities for youths and women, and delivering more impactful constituency projects. He also assured constituents of continued responsive representation anchored on accessibility, accountability, and service.

Rep. Ukpong-udo further called for unity among party members, urging stakeholders to work collectively towards securing victory for all APC candidates in the forthcoming general elections.
Stakeholders across Ikono and Ini LGAs reaffirmed their support for the party and its candidate, expressing confidence in the APC’s chances at the polls. The successful conduct of the primaries was an encouraging sign of the party’s commitment to transparency and unity as it positions itself for victory in 2027.

I was honoured to join other stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress at the stakeholders’ meeting convened by His Excellency, Pastor Umo Eno (PhD) and the President of Senate, Distinguished Senator Godswill Akpabio GCON, at Government House, Uyo. The meeting provided another opportunity for unity, consultation, and renewed commitment to the progress of Akwa Ibom State.

I commend the Governor for his inclusive leadership and dedication to peace, development, and responsible governance. Together, we will continue working to strengthen our party and advance the collective aspirations of our people.

REP UKPONG-UDO EXTENDS CONDOLENCE, FAMILY SUPPORT TO CONSTITUENTS IN IKONO AND INI

The Member representing Ikono/Ini Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Emmanuel Ukpong-udo, PhD, has again demonstrated compassion and solidarity with constituents through a series of condolence and support visits across Ikono and Ini Local Government Areas.

Represented by his Legislative Aide, Donald Bassey, the lawmaker on Saturday, May 9, 2026, visited the family of Mr Victor Sunday Umoh at Ukpom Ekpene Inuen, Ikono LGA, to sympathise with them over the demise of his brother.
He also visited Mr Ikemesit Emmanuel Inyang of Akpayak, Ikpe, Ward 1, Ini LGA, to condole with the family over the passing of his mother, Late Deaconess Affiong Emmanuel Inyang.

In a related gesture of support, Rep. Ukpong-udo also extended goodwill assistance to Mr. Bassey Ikpeme Edem of Nkwot 1, Ward 6, Ikono LGA, ahead of his child dedication ceremony scheduled for Sunday, May 10, 2026.

Speaking during the visits, Engr. Bassey conveyed the lawmaker’s heartfelt sympathies and encouragement to the affected families, assuring them of Rep. Ukpong-udo’s continued commitment to standing with constituents during both difficult and joyful moments.
The beneficiaries expressed appreciation for the thoughtful gestures, describing the lawmaker as a leader who remains connected to the realities and welfare of his people.

REP. UKPONG-UDO CELEBRATES 3 SETS OF TWINS, OTHER NEWBORNS

The Macaire Mother and Child Care Programme — a flagship maternal welfare scheme established by the member representing Ikono-Ini Federal Constituency, Rt. Hon. Emmanuel Ukpong-udo, PhD, has celebrated the arrival of 36 new babies, including 3 sets of twins.

As is the tradition since the programme’s launch over five years ago, Rep. Ukpong-udo welcomed the newborns with cash gifts delivered to the 33 new mothers through his Special Assistant on Healthcare Services, Mrs Idara Edet Essien.
The presentation took place at the General Hospital, Ibiaku Ntok Okpo, in Ikono Local Government Area. Grateful beneficiaries expressed heartfelt appreciation for the support they received throughout their pregnancies and commended their representative for his consistent efforts to improve maternal and child health in the constituency.

Launched in November 2019, the Macaire Mother and Child Care Programme was designed to reduce maternal and infant mortality in Akwa Ibom State. It has so far provided vital support and incentives to over 2,000 pregnant women across Ikono and Ini LGAs, encouraging them to seek professional medical care during pregnancy.
Rep. Ukpong-udo continues to urge pregnant women in the constituency to enrol for antenatal care at the General Hospital, Ibiaku Ntok Okpo, and benefit from this impactful initiative.

REP UKPONG-UDO EMPOWERS SIX CONSTITUENTS WITH MILLIONS UNDER MEDS INITIATIVE

The Member representing Ikono/Ini Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Emmanuel Ukpong-udo has extended further support to constituents by disbursing millions in business grants to six beneficiaries under his flagship empowerment programme, the Macaire Enterprise Development Scheme (MEDS).

The presentation was carried out on behalf of the lawmaker by his Legislative Aide, Donald Bassey, who handed over cheques to the beneficiaries and their families.
Those who benefitted from the latest round of support include Obongofon David Affah, Charity Uwah, Happiness Udoh, Udom Bassey, Paul Udo, and John Udo Udo, who received varying sums to strengthen and expand their business ventures.

Speaking during the presentation, Engr. Bassey reiterated Rep. Ukpong-udo’s commitment to promoting entrepreneurship, economic independence, and sustainable livelihoods across Ikono and Ini Local Government Areas. He noted that the MEDS initiative continues to provide targeted support for small businesses, helping beneficiaries scale their operations and contribute meaningfully to the local economy.

The beneficiaries expressed appreciation for the timely intervention, describing it as a significant boost to their businesses and a demonstration of responsive representation.
