Uganda Presidential Election: Bobi Wine Accuses Military of House Arrest Following Ballot Cast

According to the opposition leader, soldiers were deployed around his home immediately after he voted on Thursday, effectively restricting his movement and that of anyone around him.

Presidential candidate in Uganda, Robert Kyagulanyi, popularly known as Bobi Wine, has accused the Ugandan military of placing him under house arrest shortly after he cast his ballot in the country’s presidential election, alleging that the move was driven by fear of public backlash following what he described as the theft of the people’s votes.

Bobi Wine made the allegation in a statement shared on his official X (formerly Twitter) handle on Friday, a day after the election, disclosing that armed security operatives surrounded his residence and forcefully entered his compound.

According to the opposition leader, soldiers were deployed around his home immediately after he voted on Thursday, effectively restricting his movement and that of anyone around him.

“Meanwhile, yesterday, after casting my ballot, the military deployed all around my home in order to place me under house arrest,” Bobi Wine wrote.

He further alleged that some of the security personnel jumped over the fence of his residence and entered the compound without lawful justification.

“These criminals even jumped over the fence and entered our compound,” he said.

Bobi Wine disclosed that his home remains under siege, with no one allowed to enter or leave the premises, describing the situation as a blatant attempt to isolate him in the aftermath of the vote.

“My house is still besieged - no one allowed to come in or go out,” he added.

The presidential candidate dismissed the military action as a sign of weakness rather than authority, insisting that it reflects fear within the political establishment.

“This ain’t strength,” Bobi Wine said. “They do this out of fear for the people they have offended by committing so many atrocities against them.”

He further accused the authorities of attempting to suppress public outrage, alleging that the siege was meant to prevent a reaction from citizens angered by electoral malpractice.

“They do this because they are afraid of the people's reaction after stealing their vote,” he added.

Uganda’s elections have historically been marred by allegations of voter intimidation, military interference, and restrictions on opposition figures, with Bobi Wine himself having previously reported arrests, house arrests, and violent crackdowns on his supporters during past electoral cycles.

Photo news: Outcry in Lagos as Father Seeks Justice Over Death of Nine-Month-Old Twins After Immunisation

A grieving father, Samuel Alozie, known as Promise Samuel on TikTok, is seeking justice after alleging that his nine-month-old identical twin sons, Testimony and Timothy, died about 24 hours after receiving injections at the Ajangbadi Primary Health Centre in Ojo Local Government Area of Lagos State.

The tragedy went viral on Wednesday after Alozie posted a video on TikTok showing the remains of his sons in separate body bags. “This is the result of the immunisation… they killed my twin boys with injections,” the caption partly read.

Speaking in a follow-up video on Thursday, Alozie, using the TikTok handle promise.samuel099, detailed the events leading up to the tragedy.

According to the father, the twins became extremely weak immediately after the injections and were unable to eat or play. Despite administering paracetamol as advised by the nurse and bathing them to calm a rising temperature, the twins reportedly died on the morning of Christmas Day, December 25.

He said, “It happened that the immunisation was conducted on the 24th of December, in the morning. And on the morning of 25th December, they died. On that 24th, after the injection, they were very weak, and I gave them paracetamol because the nurse said that if the temperature continued, I should give them paracetamol.

“I, and my wife, after we left the health centre, went home and gave the two of them paracetamol, which didn’t solve anything. We even bathed them. My wife bathed them in cold water. They died on the 25th. The two of them died at the same time. And the worst part of it is the drug weakened two of them to the extent they can’t talk, they can’t eat, they can’t play as usual, like they can’t disturb as they used to do.”

He said, “Government have killed my children. The Nigerian government… My twins, my nine-month-old children; they have killed them with their fake injection and fake vaccine.

“Before you go for immunisation, try to know what they are giving to your child, because I guess maybe this is an overdose, or it is fake drugs. Because you can’t tell me that my child who are not sick, strong and sound, and then going to immunisation and coming back, they are dead.

“Since when I born my pikin, the highest sickness so far is maybe they get fever or something that maybe I’ll just give them paracetamol, and everything will calm down. My children are strong like me.

“I’m just confused. How can I lose two children, identical twins that I have suffered so much for? Just nine months, they are not sick, just because I decided to fulfil the righteousness of taking them to immunisation, so it will not be that, ah, your children, you didn’t immunise them? You didn’t give them proper health.

“On my own, I decided that I would take them to that place, not that they are sick, because from the first day I gave birth to them, I’ve been taking them to immunisation.”

He noted that the nurse on duty that day was not the usual official who attended to them. He further alleged that the nurse administered deworming tablets to the nine-month-old infants without his consent.

“The funny part of this is that the woman that have been giving us injections is not the woman who gave us the injection that day. Another face,” he said.

“The nurse is even saying that the injection she gave them is what the government prescribed for her to give. What about the tablet drug? You said it’s a worm medicine that you gave my children.

“You gave them worm medicine, and you didn’t ask me, and you didn’t even tell me that you are giving them worm medicine to deworm them. Did I tell you that my children are having worm problem? Or did I tell you that I wanted you to give them worm medicine? No, Then you explained to the government that you wanted to give them because you are helping me. Helping me to give my two nine-month-old children worm medicine?”

The distressed father also rejected preliminary claims from the health centre attributing the deaths to “food bacteria.”

“The nurse is talking about bacteria, food bacteria. She said that it is food bacteria that killed my children. How can food bacteria kill a child? Food that I’ve been giving them from one month to nine months, the food didn’t kill them. How is it possible?”

While the Lagos State Ministry of Health and the Primary Health Care Board have yet to release an official statement regarding the incident or the specific findings of the autopsy, Alozie expressed deep fears that the results might be manipulated to protect the government facility.
P
Describing the situation as “government to government,” he issued a desperate plea for help.
O
He said, “Please, if you’re a lawyer, a human rights lawyer, please help me. I don’t have a lawyer, and you know government issue. If you don’t have anybody, you will not get a better result,” he cried out, citing a lack of financial resources to fight the case alone.

“Although the autopsy has been conducted already, but I’m scared. The reason I’m scared is that I don’t know if this government will give me the actual justice because, you know, this is government-to-government. The primary health centre is the government, and the people who are even running the case for me are government people.

“I know that they will manipulate this result. They are using fake drugs and fake vaccines. They will manipulate it to their own favour, but God will punish any doctor, any nurse who will manipulate this result. The souls of my children will curse that person.”

“If I don’t have finance, I have people,” he added. “People should help me. I need justice for these children. I have buried them, but I know that their spirit is still not at peace because they died untimely deaths, and their death was caused by the government. I don’t have anybody except God, but I know that God will bring justice to them.”

As at the time of filing this report the hospital and Lagos government has not make any comments about the alleged health worker negligence.

Breaking News: Edo State to Enforce Commercial Vehicle Colour and Security Codes from February 1

Benin City, Edo State – The Edo State Government has announced that enforcement of the State-approved Commercial Vehicle Colour Code and Security Code will begin on 1st February 2026, a move aimed at regulating commercial transport operations across the state.

According to a statement by Hon. Uwailkhue Saturday Idehen (JP), Commissioner for Transportation, all commercial vehicles—including mini buses, vignettes, Mitsubishi buses, Toyota Yaris, and other vehicles used for commercial purposes—must comply with the new directives before the enforcement date.
The directives require that all commercial vehicles be painted in the state-approved colour code of yellow on fire red.

Additionally, vehicle owners and operators are mandated to visit the Ministry of Transportation at 3rd Floor, Block A, Secretariat Complex, Sapele Road, Benin City for profiling and issuance of the Security Code, which will be provided free of charge following proper registration.

The government emphasized that any commercial vehicle operating without the approved colour and security codes after the deadline will face sanctions in line with existing laws and regulations.

Governor Senator Monday Okpebholo has endorsed the initiative, underscoring the state’s commitment to enhancing safety, transparency, and accountability in the commercial transport sector. Stakeholders have been urged to comply promptly to avoid penalties.

"Ransom Payments Fuel Kidnapping Crisis — Nigeria’s Defence Minister, Musa
... Warns States and Local Governments Against Making Deals or Negotiating With Terrorists

The Minister of Defence, General Christopher Musa (retd.), has disclosed that the Federal Government has repeatedly warned state and local governments against negotiating or making deals with terrorists and bandits, insisting that such engagements undermine national security efforts and only embolden criminal groups.

Musa made this known during an interview with BBC Hausa, where he expressed strong opposition to dialogue, negotiations, or ransom payments to criminal elements operating across the country.

According to the Defence Minister, bandits and terrorists do not understand genuine negotiation and only use dialogue as a deceptive tactic to regroup and launch fresh attacks.

“These people do not understand negotiation. Negotiation is deception,” Musa said. “When they come to negotiate, they want something, and if you agree, they will turn around and attack you again. What happened in places like Katsina is an example; we told them not to negotiate with these people.”

He stressed that criminal groups never honour agreements reached during negotiations, describing them as habitual liars who exploit talks to buy time.

“They never keep their word; they lie. We are appealing to the public and to any government engaging in such negotiations to stop. There is no truth in it. They will only buy time and then return. Those you negotiate with do not keep promises at all; they do not fear God,” he added.

Responding to concerns that some state and local governments are still pursuing dialogue with bandits despite federal opposition, Musa said such actions directly undermine the work of the military and security agencies.

“We have sent messages and held discussions, clearly stating that this undermines our work,” he said. “If this continues, everyone will start claiming they are negotiating and should not be touched, while they continue killing people. That will create chaos.”

The Defence Minister noted that the Federal Government has formally communicated with states and communities involved in such negotiations, urging them to discontinue the practice.

“We have communicated with all those states and communities involved and told them to stop. You know this is a democracy; the military cannot simply issue orders saying, ‘Do this or don’t do that.’ But we are engaging them,” he explained.

When asked whether this situation suggests that states are stronger than the federal authorities, Musa dismissed the suggestion.

“No, no. We have spoken to them, and they will stop. I am confident they will stop,” he said.

On the issue of ransom payments for kidnapped victims, the Defence Minister described the practice as completely wrong and dangerous.

“Ransom payment is completely wrong. If it becomes normal practice, the problem will only worsen, because everyone will join in, looking for money,” Musa said. “If people believe that kidnappings automatically lead to ransom payments, it will not end well.”

He urged citizens to report kidnapping incidents to security agencies instead of paying ransom.

“That is why we say no one should pay ransom. If there is a kidnapping, it should be reported, and action will be taken,” he stated.

Addressing allegations that ransom payments are sometimes made at the federal level to secure the release of abducted persons, Musa denied such claims.

“As far as the federal government is concerned, we do not pay ransom. Some individuals may do so on their own, but the federal government, from what we know, does not pay ransom at all,” he said.

He also responded to speculations surrounding the abduction of children in Niger State, where reports suggested that the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, held talks with the kidnappers and possibly paid ransom.

“That is speculation, just speculation,” Musa said. “Whenever children are abducted or such incidents occur, the military tracks their location.”

He explained that the urgency observed by the public during such incidents is due to active military operations aimed at locating and rescuing victims.

“The urgency people see is because we are actively trying to locate them, and most times we recover the children without paying anything. The criminals flee and abandon them, and once the opportunity arises, we rescue them. No ransom is paid,” he added.

On whether bandits are stronger than Nigeria’s security forces, given their continued operations in several parts of the country, Musa said the challenge is largely due to Nigeria’s vast size and uneven security presence.

“Nigeria is a very large country. What they do is move away from areas where troops are present and operate where there is little or no security presence,” he said.

He urged citizens to support security agencies by promptly reporting suspicious movements and criminal activities.

“That is why we tell people: if you see something, report it so action can be taken,” he said.

Musa also called on state governments to address the root causes of insecurity by investing in social and economic development.

“We also appeal to state governments to help by creating jobs, building schools, ensuring children go to school, providing hospitals and basic services. All of this helps prevent terrorists from recruiting people to work for them,” he said.

According to him, poverty and hunger continue to fuel recruitment into criminal groups.

“When there is hunger and poverty, more people are drawn to them. That is why you see that even though many are killed, more keep emerging. What we must do is for everyone to play their part so we can overcome this problem,” Musa added.

Reacting to accusations that some government officials or institutions collaborate with criminals, the Defence Minister dismissed such claims as unpatriotic.

“They do not love the country. They know within themselves that they are lying,” he said. “The armed forces are committed and have shown determination to continue working to bring peace, and all of us are united in this effort.”

Describing Nigeria’s current security situation as difficult, Musa reassured citizens of the government’s resolve to restore peace.

“Nigeria is going through a very difficult time,” he said.

When asked what promise he would make to Nigerians as Minister of Defence, Musa expressed confidence in eventual success.

“I want Nigerians to understand that God is with us and we will succeed,” he said. “We appeal to everyone to stop associating with these criminals. Wherever they are seen, report them, and we will take action. Together, we will achieve peace.”

On whether Nigeria has enough security personnel to eliminate insecurity, Musa said no country has sufficient manpower to address such challenges solely through numbers.

“No country has enough security personnel, no country at all,” he said. “But what helps greatly is technology.”

He added that cooperation between citizens and security agencies is critical to ending insecurity.

“When people cooperate and understand that they too have a responsibility to do what is right, and they support security agencies, then together we will succeed,” Musa said.

Idahosa Dismisses Online Rumours, Affirms Loyalty to Gov. Okpebholo

The Deputy Governor of Edo State, Dennis Osagbemwenrue Idahosa, has dismissed what he described as sponsored false narratives circulating online, insisting that attempts to create disunity between him and Governor Senator Monday Okpebholo will fail.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, Idahosa said certain individuals unsettled by the unity and working relationship between himself and the governor have allegedly resorted to spreading misinformation in a bid to sow discord within the state leadership.

He stressed that such efforts are futile, noting that the bond between him and Governor Okpebholo remains firm and unshakable. According to the deputy governor, as long as both leaders remain united, any plot to undermine their administration is “dead on arrival.”

Idahosa reaffirmed his unwavering loyalty to the governor, describing his support as solid and steadfast. He declared that he stands fully with Governor Okpebholo in purpose, vision, and action, adding that attempts to weaken their team are a waste of time.

The deputy governor’s statement comes amid growing online speculation about alleged cracks within the Edo State Government, claims he firmly rejected as baseless and politically motivated.

JUST IN: Impeachment of Fubara, Deputy to Continue As Four Lawmakers Taking Sides with Fubara Make U–turn

Members of the Rivers State House of Assembly have insisted that the impeachment process against Governor Siminalayi Fubara and his deputy, Prof. Ngozi Odu, will continue, describing it as the only solution to the political crisis in the state.

The lawmakers made this known on Friday while briefing journalists, after the Assembly failed to reconvene on Thursday as scheduled.

Taking turns to address the media, the legislators maintained that the impeachment proceedings were constitutional and in line with their legislative responsibilities.

They dismissed criticisms of the process, insisting that the Assembly was acting within the provisions of the law to address what they described as a political impasse in Rivers State.

The briefing came a day after the Assembly, led by Speaker Martin Amaewhule, failed to resume plenary on Thursday, exactly one week after adjourning its last sitting.

The House had, at its sitting last week, initiated impeachment proceedings against Fubara and his deputy over alleged gross misconduct.

The allegations included the demolition of the Assembly complex and spending public funds without legislative approval.

However, the impeachment move has faced political pushback, with four lawmakers between Monday and Wednesday formally withdrawing from the process and calling for an amicable resolution of the crisis.

Despite expectations that the Assembly would reconvene on Thursday, there was no indication that plenary held, fuelling speculation about internal divisions within the House.

The lawmakers, however, said on Friday that the impeachment process remained on course.

DNA CONTROVERSY: I WAS A WAITRESS, NOT A HOOKUP GIRL — LABINJOH, MOTHER OF DAVIDO’S ALLEGED DAUGHTER SPEAKS OUT

Ayo Labinjoh has publicly denied claims circulating on social media that she is Davido’s “baby mama,” alleging sustained harassment and disputing the credibility of past DNA tests linked to her daughter, Anu. In a detailed statement, Labinjoh said her daughter has faced years of bullying and is currently trending on X after renewed exchanges involving the award-winning singer, David Adeleke.

Labinjoh alleged that Adeleke recently contacted Anu with threatening and abusive messages, including threats of arrest and repeated verbal attacks. She said the incident has further affected her daughter’s mental health and intensified public scrutiny.

According to Labinjoh, earlier DNA testing conducted in 2014 was compromised. She claimed that Dr. Deji Adeleke arranged for Anu’s blood to be drawn at a laboratory—not a hospital—and alleged that the sample was discarded without her knowledge and replaced with a falsified result. She named Wale Sobola as the laboratory technician involved, alleging he posed as “Dr. Alex,” and linked him to a Nollywood actress. These allegations have not been independently verified.

Labinjoh also rejected claims about her personal background, stating she was a waitress in Ibadan and not “picked up from the streets,” as she alleges Adeleke once believed. She said Adeleke largely ignored her for years, despite reportedly submitting to multiple DNA tests.

Citing Adeleke’s U.S. citizenship, Labinjoh said she intends to request the involvement of the U.S. State Department to coordinate with the U.S. mission in Lagos or Abuja to supervise an independent and transparent DNA test. She emphasized that her daughter is seeking clarity about her identity, not charity or adoption.

Addressing online commentary, Labinjoh condemned derogatory language directed at her, saying it was inappropriate given that Adeleke has daughters of his own. “My daughter did not beg to be here,” she said, adding that she is determined to protect Anu’s wellbeing.

As of the time of filing this report, Davido and his representatives had not issued a public response to the allegations. The claims remain allegations pending verification by relevant authorities or independent testing.
