The story of Moses
Chapter Nine
The Angel of Death
The sun had set over Egypt, casting a dark and foreboding shadow over the land. The Israelites huddled in their homes, the blood of the lamb marking their doorposts like a beacon of hope.
In the palace, Pharaoh's advisors begged him to reconsider. "Let the Israelites go," they pleaded. "The plagues have devastated our land, and the people are terrified."
But Pharaoh remained resolute. "I will not be intimidated," he spat. "I will not let the Israelites go."
And so, the angel of death descended upon Egypt. A dark and eerie silence fell over the land, punctuated only by the sound of wailing and screams.
The angel passed from house to house, striking down every firstborn son. The Egyptians were consumed by grief and despair, but the Israelites were spared.
As the night wore on, the cries of the Egyptians grew louder. Pharaoh's own son lay dead, and he was consumed by grief and rage.
In the midst of the chaos, Moses stood tall, his eyes fixed on the horizon. He knew that the time of their deliverance was at hand.
And then, just as suddenly as it had begun, the night of the angel of death was over. The sun began to rise, casting a golden glow over the devastated land.
The Israelites emerged from their homes, blinking in the bright light. They knew that they were free, that the time of their slavery was finally at an end.
But as they began their journey out of Egypt, they could hear the sound of Pharaoh's chariots, gathering in the distance...
