LASSA FEVER ALERT

Lassa fever remains a public health concern in Nigeria, with new cases still being reported across several states.

The disease is caused by the Lassa virus and is commonly spread through contact with food, household items, or surfaces contaminated by infected rats. Early symptoms may look like common illnesses such as malaria and can include fever, weakness, headache, sore throat, and body pains.

Early diagnosis and treatment significantly improve the chances of recovery. Maintaining good hygiene, storing food properly, and keeping your environment free from rodents are important preventive measures.

Stay informed. Stay vigilant. If you experience persistent fever or other unusual symptoms, seek medical attention promptly.
