OSUSUOWO HERITAGE MOVEMENT CALLS FOR RESPECT FOR YORUBA CULTURAL HERITAGE AND TRADITION

Today, the OsusuOwo Heritage Movement, a renowned sociocultural group representing the Yoruba-speaking tribe worldwide, convened for its first meeting of the year under the able leadership of their President, Ogbeni Iwalesin Olawale Sogbeyinde from Ogun State. The gathering, which took place in a vibrant and intellectual atmosphere, was attended by members from Nigeria and across the diaspora in large numbers, all united by their deep passion to preserve and promote the Yoruba heritage.
In the meeting, the movement’s leadership issued a stern call to all content creators, musicians, actors, religious figures, and the general public to show deep respect and reverence for the Yoruba beliefs, culture, and traditions. The group expressed concern over the rising misuse and distortion of the rich Yoruba identity, especially in the entertainment and media industries. The President emphasized that any actions that degrade or misrepresent Yoruba culture would not be tolerated and would result in legal actions being pursued against the offenders.
This vital message was formally communicated to the public by the group’s National Publicity Secretary, Ogbeni Olawale Agbaje, from Ekiti State, who urged all stakeholders to be more responsible in their creative expressions and respect the sanctity of the Yoruba cultural heritage. He stated, "It is essential that the portrayal of our traditions, beliefs, and values align with the dignity and nobility of our ancestors. Any attempt to degrade or undermine the Yoruba identity will not be allowed to stand."
The OsusuOwo Heritage Movement continues to stand as a formidable pillar for the protection of Yoruba culture and tradition.
