The Adamawa State Governor, Ahmadu Fintiri, has granted pardon to six prison inmates serving various prison sentences in some correctional facilities in the state.
The pardon is in commemoration with the celebration of Nigeria’s 65th Independence anniversary
Fintiri in a statement today, said the inmates had demonstrated significant improvement in their behaviour and conduct.
“Therefore, in the exercise of my prerogative of mercy as enshrined in the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and in line with the recommendations of the Adamawa State Advisory Council on Prerogative of Mercy, I have granted pardon to six persons who have served various jail terms and have significantly demonstrated good conduct over the years,” he saidThe governor who ordered their immediate discharge has also directed relevant authorities to give immediate effect to the order.
Those discharged include Wamari Godwin, ⁠Abraham Marksunil, David Paul, Ibrahim Adamu, Usman Inuwa and Sani Yahaya.

The Bauchi State Police Command says it has launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death of a 24-year-old woman, identified as Fatima Salihu Mohammed.
In a statement issued late hours of Monday, the Police Public Relations Officer of the command, Ahmed Wakil, stated that the Commissioner of Police, Sani-Omolori Aliyu, ordered the investigation to unravel the cause of Fatima’s death.
Wakil explained that on September 25, 2025, the command received a formal complaint of a missing person from one Salihu Mohammed Chimo, 62, of the Federal Polytechnic Staff Quarters, Bauchi.
According to him, Chimo had reported at the ‘E’ Divisional Police Headquarters that his daughter, Fatima, left home on September 24, 2025, at about 10:00 a.m. to buy groceries at Birshin Fulani but never returned.

Nigerian golf ace Sunday Olapade won the professional round of the 2025 Lakowe Lakes Golf Classic with a 10-under par score in 54 holes, as the event came to an end on Sunday.
Youngster Godwin Okoko, also made the winner’s list with a third-place finish in the professional round while also leading his amateur team members to be crowned the Team event winners. The members included Ikechukwu Boniface, David Maji, and Frances Omaruaye.
The 2025 event paraded some of the best professional players from West Africa, including Emos Korblah and Barry Yaw from Ghana, Oche Odoh, Kamalu Bako, Gift W***y, Godwin Okoko, Michael Ubi, and Francis Epe.
Olapade’s rounds were 69, 65, and 72 for the three days to beat Korblah with a five-stroke margin and pocket the N5m purse and an additional ARM champion bonus of N2.5m, totaling N7.5m for his victory.

Big Brother Naija reality star, Phyna, has accused Dangote Group of negligence and insensitivity surrounding the death and burial of her sister, Ruth Otabor.
In a series of posts shared on Instagram, Phyna claimed her sister’s death was not only tragic but also calculated and planned.
She accused Dangote Group of failing to fully cover medical and burial expenses as earlier announced publicly.
According to Phyna, the company only settled charges at Lagoon Hospital in Lagos, while the family bore the financial burden for additional expenses from Auchi to Irrua.
“The bills from Auchi down to Irrua were covered by the family; no refund has been made,” she lamented.
Phyna further alleged that on the day of Ruth’s burial, attempts to reach Dangote Group proved futile.
“Also on Sept 13th, the day of burial, Dangote groups did not pick up all calls made to them from us, as we were told the bills were not paid, but they claim it was,” she wrote.

The Niger State Police Command has arrested 14 suspects in two separate high-profile cases, a massive theft and vandalism at the Kainji Power Plant valued at over ₦4.8 billion, and a staged kidnap designed to extort ₦7 million ransom.
In a statement made today, signed by Niger State Command Public Relations Officer SP Wasiu Abiodun, Police spokespersons said the first case, which began with a complaint from Mainstream Energy Solutions Ltd on August 11, 2025, uncovered a long-running conspiracy by security staff at the Kainji Power Plant.
“An inspection at the navigation lock yard of the Kainji power plant revealed that some navigation lock metals and beams worth billions were vandalised and carted away by unknown persons. Following this, two supervisors at the plant were arrested and transferred to SCID Minna,” the statement read.
The suspects, identified as Shaibu Abu Sufyan (35) and Ibrahim Musa (31), initially denied involvement.

Wilfred Ndidi has been named in the Besiktas squad for their rescheduled Super Lig opener against Kayserispor after his return from injury.
The Nigerian midfielder had been sidelined after picking up a knock during international duty, when he was substituted in the 70th minute of Nigeria’s World Cup qualifier away to South Africa.
His absence saw him miss back-to-back league games against Basaksehir and Goztepe, raising fears of a longer lay-off.
Besiktas confirmed at the weekend that the summer signing was back in training, easing concerns among supporters.The club said the 28-year-old had rejoined full sessions just a day after missing the 3-0 defeat away to Goztepe.

US President Donald Trump hailed the conservative activist Charlie Kirk as a "great American hero" and "martyr" during a speech to tens of thousands of mourners at a memorial service in Arizona.
Trump was the headline speaker at the packed event on Sunday, which saw top officials from his administration, including Vice-President JD Vance, praise Kirk's political legacy after he was shot dead on 10 September.

The Anambra State Police Command has arrested one Okwuchukwu Ezimuo, male, aged 45 years, for allegedly stabbing his relative to death over a family land dispute in Umunocha Village, Awka-Etiti, Idemili South Local Government Area of the state.It was gathered that the suspect struck the deceased, identified as Joseph D**e, a 65-year-old, on the chest during a quarrel over the land dispute on Monday evening.
Following the incident, the victim was immediately rushed to the hospital, where he was confirmed dead by a medical doctor on duty.
The Spokesman for the Anambra State Police Command, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, who confirmed the development in a press statement on Wednesday, said the police officers had visited the scene of the crime, and relevant evidence, including photographs, was taken.

The Association of Resident Doctors in the Federal Capital Territory Administration on Monday began an indefinite strike.
This was disclosed in a communique issued by the ARD-FCT, signed by its President, Dr. George Ebong, and General Secretary, Dr. Agbor Affiong.
The decision followed the association’s seven-day warning strike, which ended after an emergency general meeting held on Sunday.
The ARD-FCTA is an association of doctors practising in the 14 district and general hospitals, including the Department of Public Health under the FCTA.The doctors had embarked on the warning strike last Monday to press home their demands, after months of unresolved negotiations with the FCTA.
In the communique, the association said that after reassessing the issues earlier presented to management, Congress expressed deep disappointment that none of the demands had been met.

The Rivers State Police Command has arrested a 48-year-old man, Emmanuel George, for allegedly defiling a 12-year-old girl in Port Harcourt.
The incident occurred on September 6 at Mini Orlu, off Ada-George Road, where the victim, who was on holiday with her aunt, was attacked while returning from an errand.
In a statement today, the command’s spokesperson, SP Grace Iringe-Koko, said George, a native of Akwa Ibom but resident in Port Harcourt, lured the child into a stationary tricycle before assaulting her.
She said, “The suspect dragged the victim into a stationary tricycle, popularly called Keke Napep, tied her hands, covered her mouth to prevent her from raising an alarm, and forcefully had carnal knowledge of her before fleeing the scene.”Iringe-Koko explained that operatives attached to the CP Strike Force mobilised swiftly after receiving a distress call and took the girl to the Police Hospital for medical examination.
