The Independent National Electoral Commission has called on Osun residents yet to collect their Permanent Voter Cards to use the opportunity of the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration to collect them.
The INEC’s spokesperson in Osun, Musa Olurode, made the call in a statement on Tuesday, adding that 360,794 PVCs were lying at the commission’s office.
“INEC in Osun is using this medium to inform the general public that the ongoing voter registration exercise provides yet another opportunity for people yet to collect their PVCs to do so.
“More than 360,794 PVCs are uncollected in Osun. INEC, under the leadership of Dr Mutiu Agboke, is requesting owners of these cards to use this opportunity for the ongoing CVR to collect their cards.
“The PVCs shall be available for collection at the 30 INEC local government offices and the Area office at Modakeke from 9a.m to 3p.m daily,” he said.

The Kwara State Fire Service said that it saved nine shops from destruction during a fire at Joseph Duntoye Street, Tipper Garage, Tanke Area, Ilorin South Local Government.
A statement by Hassan Adekunle,head of Media and publicity of Kwara fire service made available to the presssaid that out of the nine shops , only one was affected by fire while eight were destroyed.
He said that the timely arrival of firemen at the scene safed the eight shops.adding” the timely arrival of firemen at the scene prevented fire from affecting the whole building .
“On arrival at the scene, firefighters discovered that a building consisting of about nine shops was involved, but due to the swift intervention of the fire crew, only one shop was affected by the blaze.
He said that preliminary investigation revealed that the fire incident was caused by a power surge, which ignited the affected shop.

Many fans of singer, Seyi Vibez have reportedly lost their lives in a fatal accident.
The victims were said to have passed away while returning from the Seyi Vibez concert on Saturday night at Lagos Island.
Sharing the devastating news, an eyewitness, posted the video of the incident on X.
While advising the public against reckless driving, she revealed that the victims had engaged in a car race on expressway.
She wrote: “They left the show and started racing on the express, trying to overtake other cars. Why race on the highway? May their souls rest in peace. SPEED KILLS.”
The fatal incident, which involved more than four vehicles, sparked outrage and grief online.

Big Brother has taken a firm stance against rule breaking as he addressed the Big Brother Naija season 10 housemates over their persistent disregard for one of the show’s core rules.
After the live nominations on Monday evening, Biggie expressed disappointment that several housemates had repeatedly removed or tampered with their microphones
Big Brother described the act as a serious breach, since the mics are the direct link between the housemates and the viewing audience.
He then went on to call out the offenders, issuing a final warning to the following housemates, Kola, Bright Morgan, Doris, Isabella, Mensan, Rooboy, Sultana and Thelma Lawson.

Biggie stressed that covering or switching off microphones not only undermines the rules but also deprives fans of fully engaging with the reality of the house.

Big Brother stated that any future microphone infringements will result in serious penalties for the individuals and could impact the house as a whole.

According to the results released by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, the APC won all seats on offer in the bye-polls in Ogun, Edo, Niger, Kaduna, Taraba, Jigawa, Adamawa and Kogi.
It shared the two seats in Kano with the New Nigeria People’s Party, NNPP but had no answer to the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, in Anambra; and the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, in Oyo. As it is, the APC won in 12 constituencies; APGA won in two; PDP won in one, and NNPP in one.
On a day President Bola Tinubu saluted the victors across party lines, opposition parties, including PDP, LP, coalition-backed African Democratic Congress, ADC, and the Coalition of United Political Parties, CUPP, picked holes in the bye-elections, which they said were rigged.
They also warned that repeating same in 2027 would spell doom for the polity.

The suspects were identified as Inspector Ojo Oloruntobi, Charles Onah, Joseph Ohis, and Enoma Agho. They are accused of being behind a series of robberies, extortions, and assaults targeting residents of the city.
In a statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Moses Yamu, the command explained that their arrest followed a viral video in which a man alleged he was abducted by men in police uniform, robbed of his phone and other belongings, and intimidated.
“In response to this alarming report, as well as other similar complaints, the Commissioner of Police, CP Monday Agbonika, ordered immediate action to identify and apprehend those responsible,” Yamu stated.
According to the statement, operatives from the Ugbowo Surveillance Team intercepted the suspects on August 15, 2025. They were caught with a silver Toyota Yaris and other items believed to be linked to their criminal activities

US President Donald Trump said reclaiming Crimea or entering NATO were off the table for Ukraine, as President Volodymyr Zelensky arrived in Washington for Monday talks aimed at ending the war with Russia.
Zelensky, who has repeatedly rejected territorial concessions, will meet Trump in Washington on Monday, accompanied by European Commission chief Ursula von der Leyen and other leaders.
The meeting comes on the heels of a summit between Trump and Russia’s Vladimir Putin in Alaska on Friday, which failed to yield a ceasefire breakthrough but produced promises from both leaders to provide “robust security guarantees” to Ukraine.
Zelensky was not invited to the Alaska meeting, after which Trump pivoted to the long-held Russian position that a ceasefire was not needed before a final peace deal.

An Afghan man, whose details were accidentally leaked by the UK in a major data breach, has been detained in Pakistan for imminent deportation alongside several family members, his son told the BBC.
The documents has seen which appear to confirm the man was part of Afghan special forces units who worked alongside British forces in Afghanistan, known as the Triples.

At least, two Nigerians were arrested in July in Beirut, Lebanon, for allegedly smuggling 156 co***ne capsules, weighing about three kilograms, valued at more than $500,000.It was learnt that the suspects allegedly ingested the narcotics before being apprehended inside a hotel in the Kesrouan district, north of Beirut.
According to the Lebanese news outlet, L’Orient Today, the arrests were carried out by the country’s Central Bureau for Drug Control.
The agency disclosed that it had been investigating “an international organisation recruiting people to deliver co***ne to Lebanon,” noting that the operation ran “from Nigeria to Lebanon, transiting through Ethiopia.”
