🔥 TELL THE KING (III) 🔥
📖 2 Kings 7:1–19
“We are not doing right. This day is a day of good news, and we remain silent.” — 2 Kings 7:9
Samaria was under siege by the Syrians, and the situation had become unbearable. Famine had ravaged the city, and hope seemed completely lost.
But while the people were trapped in desperation, God was already working behind the scenes.
The Lord caused the Syrian army to hear the sound of chariots, horses, and a great army. Terrified, they abandoned their camp and fled, leaving behind food, treasures, and provisions.
Then came an unexpected group of messengers—four lepers.
They were socially excluded and ceremonially unclean. They were not the people anyone would ordinarily expect to carry good news.
Yet, when they discovered that the Syrian camp was empty, they ate, drank, and gathered some possessions. But eventually, they said:
“We are not doing right. This day is a day of good news, and we remain silent.”
— 2 Kings 7:9
They immediately went to the city gatekeepers and reported what they had discovered.
Their message was investigated and confirmed. Soon, the entire city experienced the fulfillment of God's word.
The people who were considered insignificant became carriers of significant news.
🔥 WHAT A LESSON!
Never assume that because you are not highly placed, your information is not important.
Never think that because people do not recognise your position, your voice has no value.
And never keep silent when God has entrusted you with information that can bring help, hope, correction, or progress to others.
The good news did not become less valuable because it came through lepers.
The messenger may be imperfect, but the message can still be important.
Perhaps you have information that could help your family.
Perhaps you know something that could save someone from danger.
Perhaps you have an idea that could move your organisation forward.
Perhaps you have information that your leaders need in order to make a better decision.
Tell the king.
Do not hoard what could become someone else's breakthrough.
At the same time, wisdom is necessary: telling the king does not mean spreading rumours or engaging in gossip. It means responsibly communicating truthful and relevant information to the appropriate people.
📌 TODAY'S REFLECTION
If four excluded lepers could refuse to remain silent about good news, what excuse do we have for withholding information that could bring positive change?
Some information is not meant to be kept; it is meant to be communicated.
You may not be the king.
You may not sit in the palace.
You may not be recognised by everyone.
But you may be carrying the information that somebody needs for their next breakthrough.
👉 Tell the king!
🙏 PRAYER POINTS
Lord Jesus, open my eyes to recognise areas where I am doing what is wrong, and give me grace to make amends.
Lord, when it is necessary to speak the truth, give me courage not to remain silent.
Lord, give our leaders wisdom to recognise, value, and properly utilise the information available to them for the good of the people.
Lord, make me a trustworthy carrier of good news, useful information, encouragement, and truth.
Lord, deliver me from selfishness, fear, gossip, and careless speech. Help me to know when to speak, what to say, and whom to tell.
🔥 QUESTION FOR REFLECTION:
What “good news” or valuable information are you carrying that needs to reach the right person?
💬 Tell me in the comments: What lesson have you learned from the four lepers?
